Pottery Barn Inspired...Jingle Pillow

One of my favorite things about the holiday season is all of the catalogs and magazines that arrive in my mailbox on a daily basis. I draw so much inspiration from their pages.

This Christmas my most favorite was in the Pottery Barn November/Holiday catalog. Their “Jingle” pillow just caught my eye and it was so cute.

I thought about purchasing this pillow, but I could not justify the price tag. Plus, the pillow would only be displayed for four weeks. So, I forgot about the cute pillow – or I tried to 🙂 Each time a new PB catalog arrived, I was reminded of how much I still wanted this pillow.

So… I set out to figure out know to make one of my very own. First, I thought of stencils. This option was very expensive. I even thought of making a stencil, but I know my creative limitations. Ultimately I decided to freehand and paint the design – fingers crossed in the hopes that it would turn out well enough to display.

Back in October, I happened to be in Walmart, looking for the elusive Looking Glass spray. I walked passed a new display of burlap in different colors. I quickly picked up a couple of rolls of cream and neutral jute. I now wish I had purchased more – I can think of so many things I could have used it for.

I used part of one roll of the cream colored roll for the “JOY” table runner. I used the rest of the roll for this “Jingle” pillow.

I gathered my materials:

Burlap fabric
Red paint
Artists paint brush
Squeeze bottle with small tip
Potter Barn magazine

I headed to the basement and laid out the fabric. I took a deep breath and began to paint. I was very pleased with my painting results…this is what it looked like.
