You know, I say it all of the time – I’m really a lucky girl – especially because Jennifer is my daughter. She and I know each other so well that we sometimes joke that we share a brain. For my birthday Sunday Jenn spoiled me with special gifts that only she could have chosen for me. She always knows exactly what I need and she puts so much thought and care when choosing gifts for me and for everyone she knows.
One of these gifts was a fabulous dish towel. It has a beautiful drawing with the phrase “Queen Mum” underneath. I instantly loved the creamy white background color and the gray and charcoal drawing. We each have a fondness for England, Princesses and Queens. And y’all know that I’m the Queen Bee so you can see why this gift was so fun and perfect for me 🙂
I instantly knew that this was never going to be in my kitchen. I mean, can you imagine someone wiping their grimy hands on this lovely towel? I couldn’t take a chance that this would ever happen 🙂
It soon became very clear what I was going to use the towel for. I wanted to display it where I could see it on a daily basis. Remember my desk chair that recently got a makeover? A pillow was needed for the back and the colors paired perfectly.
I already had a pillow insert that luckily was the perfect size. Do y’all save the inserts of pillows that you no longer want? Being that I frequently change up my decor, I keep the inserts for projects just like this one. You can easily add new fabric or create a cover with a towel just like this one or with fabric napkins like I did HERE.
I didn’t need to cut the towel at all. I folded it in half, right sides together. I sewed the right side and then the left side. I then turned the pillow over right side out, stuffed it with the pillow insert and then sewed the bottom closed.
This could easily be a no-sew-project by using glue or heat and bond hemming. This project took about three minutes to make! How great is that? It took me longer to iron the creases out of the towel 🙂
It looks so pretty in my desk chair…
I’ve steadily been working on my desk area and the upstairs landing. This pillow is the perfect addition for my workspace. It makes me smile each time I look at it 🙂
Thank you Jennifer for being the perfect gift in my life!
What a perfect gift! It fits your new office chair perfectly. And 3 minutes to make? I’m all about that, lol. Hope you had a great birthday! Hugs!
Hey Angie – I was so excited that this was a perfect fit for my desk chair! And yes, thank you my birthday was fabulous!
I’m trying to think of something more “you” than this pillow but guess what? i can’t think of anything 🙂 I spy total perfection! Hugs, Coco
CoCo – you are too sweet and kind! Thank you so much!
So cute, Vicki! I just love that towel, too! Perfect and simple little pillow. 🙂
Thanks Amanda! I thought it turned out pretty great too!
So pretty! What sweet & perfect gift. I agree that such a beautiful towel should have a better purpose! Great job!
I hope you had a wonderful Birthday with your lovely daughter.

Hey Karen – my birthday was fabulous and special! I loved the dish towel but really couldn’t bare the thought of it getting dirty 🙂 I’m so happy that I repurposed it and really love it in my chair!
Vicki this Towel to Pillow turned out so beautiful and it looks so designer sitting on your fab chair against that rustic wood planked wall. I love that Jenn picks out the perfect gifts and I couldn’t agree more that you are the QUEEN MUM!! LOVE it. xo Lisa
Hi Lisa – aren’t daughters the best gift-givers? Jenn always seems to know what I want before I do 🙂 Thanks so much!
Gorgeous! I love how this pillow turned out! And it goes so beautifully with the chair! Have a great weekend!
Hi Benita – I take that as a high compliment coming from you! We love your style!
I just love your pillow! I too am into queens. I dubbed myself the queen for my 50th birthday party and ever since I am in love with anything to do with queens…..crowns, signs, jewelry and now pillows! I must find something like this to make one for myself. Happy Birthday!
Hi AnnMarie – That’s wonderful! My family has always referred to me as “Queen Bee” for as long as I can remember. And then Jennifer became Princess Bees – hence the name of our blog 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by!
I LOVE that towel turned pillow:) AWESOME. You are so creative! And it looks perfectly at home on that beautiful chair:)
This is so TOTALLY you Vicki 🙂 So sweet that Jennifer found it as a gift! And it looks perfect in your chair. I’m with you on not wanting to have this sweet gift become a hand wipin’ towel ~ you found a great way to enjoy it AND preserve it. Well done and hope you enjoyed your Queen Bee day. Bwg ~~~
Daughters are the best gift givers! That towel makes a lovely pillow for your lovely chair. Happy belated birthday! Pinned!
