Surprisingly this Give Thanks Art was easy to make.

Back in the summer, Jenn and I attended a super fun blogger party at a place called Pinsperation. Let me tell you, it was a great girl’s night out. Pinspiration is a premier Pinterest-inspired DIY maker space and craft studio. We each selected our craft project of choice and got down to business. Oh, and the best part? They served cocktails and small bites. Right? I told you – super fun night! I made my selection of a Give Thanks art piece and prayed that I could make it look like the original.

How about this fabulous oversized chalkboard?

Please forgive these phone pics.

Materials needed:

  • 12 inch square board. This does not need to be high quality wood.
  • Rust colored paint
  • Gold paint
  • White paint
  • Craft paint brushes
  • Give Thanks stencil
  • Pencil

Start with a clean square board.

This particular stencil is by Folk Art and was sold in a holiday pack.

The rust paint is very deep and rich in color. Using a sponge brush, I painted two coats of rust paint and let it dry.

Now, I thought I was going to be using the stencil in the usual, traditional way. Well, I was wrong. The pencil was used to trace every single bit of the stencil onto the board. I pressed down hard making sure I could see all of the design. The reason for this is because the design was then hand painted.

Now that it is fall, I displayed the sign in my dining room. Thanksgiving will be here before I’m ready for it. Do y’all think time is moving at warp speed lately? Please tell me I’m not alone!

Give Thanks is also a great daily reminder too. I know some days it can be harder than others to do this LOL. I’m right there with you.

The chalk painted books are a great pedestal for height.

I definitely give thanks for a fabulous evening with Jenn and friends. Plus I got to create a wonderful piece of art for fall. Oh gosh, I forgot to tell you – the weather finally cooled down! You know how happy that makes me. And I definitely give thanks to each and everyone of you who visit us. We appreciate you so much!

Be sure to add this to your favorite Pinterest board!
