Hey y’all…you know how much Jenn and I like to decorate on a budget, right? To help us achieve the decorated homes of our dreams we rely on our creativity, painting skills, hard work and smart shopping choices. One of our most favorite activities is to make the pilgrimage of our favorite thrifts stores, charity shops and honey holes. Sometimes after one of these shopping excursions we come home empty-handed and disappointed. Other times we find so many great deals that we sadly can’t bring it all home. This week our trek was very successful! Here are some of our favorite thrifted finds of the week…
Here’s a true story about this fabulous crate. I saw an employee carrying it – along with other items into the shop. I totally stalked followed her to the counter to inquire whether the crate was going to be for sale…she hadn’t even had a chance to price it yet. I’m not usually that bold but I was already in love with the navy blue graphics!
The crate is in practically mint condition. The very sweet staff sold it to me for $7.00. Imagine my surprise when I got it home and did some research. I discovered that this crate is from the late 1940’s and is worth a lot more money than I paid.
It even has its original label on the side!
This handmade pottery candlestick is gorgeous…and it was FREE! When we were out thrifting we passed a home that had a few boxes of items out front and they were giving everything away. We suspect they were items leftover from a yard sale. I couldn’t pass this up as it is my perfect color of blue.
If you have been following us for awhile, then you already know about our moss obsession. How could we leave this sweet moss-covered sheep behind?
At another store I found this bundle of duck cloth canvas. There were three yards in mint condition. Typically this fabric can run upwards of $9 per yard. My purchase was just $2.00 total.
Don’t hate me, but it is not too early to talk about Fall. During the Summer you can find lots of Fall and Winter decor. Being that it isn’t the current season you can find these items very inexpensively. Take this cute acorn for example…10 cents!
This antique frame is the real deal. It is handmade of gorgeous wood and has a beautiful patina.
Here, you can really see the craftsmanship.
I love this bit of layered paint too. I’m not quite sure what I’m going to do with it yet but I knew I couldn’t leave it behind.
These precious Scottie dogs were a bit of an impulse purchase. They were only $1.00 for the pair. They may get their debut at Christmastime!
Here are our Top 6 Items that we look for in the thrift stores.
We hardly spent any money at all but we definitely have a lot to show for it. I can’t wait to figure out ways to use these purchases in the house. What have you found while out thrifting?
So many great finds on one trip! This would definitely keep me on the treasure trails. I’ve already selected my plaids for the fall and winter seasons it’s going to be so much fun! We are going to rock the holidays. Hugs,CoCo
Wow, you found some great items! I especially love the crate and the frame. So many ways you can use them!
Wow, would I have loved to be on that treasure hunt! We may have had to arrange joint custody for the fruit crate:) you’ve got a great eye for the unique and cheap. Bambi
Wow, these are some great finds! I love the candlestick holder. It’s so uniquely crafted and looks really authentic. Nicely done! Thanks for sharing your latest purchases with us!
You’re right about the handmade pottery candlestick. Congrats on getting such a gorgeous free item.
