Creating decor to suit your fall home is easier than you think. Like a painted indigo book page pumpkin.

Hello friends! I know that we typically don’t post on Saturday’s, but time has been getting away from us. Plus this weekend we are attending a blog seminar in the hopes of learning new skills. It takes a lot of knowledge to run this blog and business. We try to stay sharp and be our best. In the meantime we have been creating lots of blue and white fall decor, like this painted indigo book page pumpkin.

The decor in my house dictates lots of blue and white – so I decided to create my own fall decor and pumpkins to match!

Insert pumpkin and repeat

If you read our post yesterday, creating this pumpkin is practically repeating the same process. You can read the complete tutorial HERE for our pretty Blue and White Chinoiserie Pumpkins. The only difference is – those pumpkins were made using paper napkins. These pumpkins were made using vintage book pages.

A Dollar Tree styrofoam pumpkin.

Covered with two coats of white paint.

These vintage book page shapes were leftover cutouts from the garland swag project. You can read that full post HERE.

Using only the indigo blue watercolor from my paint kit, I painted directly onto the book pages.

I added more water to make a lighter blue color and less water to create a darker indigo color.

While the paper was still wet, I held it up so that the paint would drip. After the paper was completely dry I applied it to the pumpkin with Mod Podge just like the chinoiserie decoupage pumpkins.

Put a stick in it

A stick from the yard was cut to a desired length with yard loppers. Mod Podge was added to one end of the stick and then jammed into the top center of the pumpkin.

I couldn’t believe how perfectly this indigo pumpkin matched the painting on the mantel!

Speaking of which…I will be sharing my early fall mantel decor on Monday. It won’t be just my mantel either – but an amazing group of bloggers and a Fall tour! Have your coffee ready!

Now I want to paint all.of.the.things indigo with this treatment. See you Monday!

  2. Awesome idea! I love the blue (totally my favorite home décor color right now) I have been seeing a lot of cool “book” art things this season and it is so fitting with the start of school.
