Transitioning holiday decor with a pretty book page garland winter mantel.

When the holiday decor was put away the fireplace mantel was looking pretty barren. I kept the tobacco stick star and silver leaf wreath from the Sparkle and Shine Rustic Christmas Mantel because I love the look and I felt they transitioned well into the winter season. If you have followed our posts this week then you have seen the book page garland swag and faux galvanized painted wine bottles that I created. Being that we are in full-blown winter I wanted to surround myself with something that was soft and elegant that I could create myself. That’s how I came up with this pretty book page garland winter mantel.

Our friend Amy from My Life From Home hosts this seasonal series on how we, and our design blogging friends decorate our fireplace mantels throughout the year. It’s a great way for us to express our creativity and for you to get ideas for your own homes.

This book page garland swag was easy to make and and it adds a lot of depth and drama to the mantel.

Painted Bottles

Faux galvanized painted wine bottles was another way to add personality and depth to the mantel. I already had the bottles and paint so this project didn’t cost me any money. Adding a white tulip bud to each bottle softened the look and made it even more pretty.

This silver leaf wreath was a great find at HomeGoods.

Paper roses are quick and easy to make. They add dimension and interest to the oversized book page leaves.

In the winter we can spend a lot of time in the house, especially this year with the colder weather. Can you believe that we had snow yesterday? It may not be a big deal in your neck of the woods, but for me it was a super big deal! LOL. So being inside the house more than usual, cozied up to the fireplace, I want to be sure that the mantel looks pretty and interesting.

I love how the paper leaves flow down both sides of the mantel.

I hope you like what you saw!
