Home Office Makeover – $100 Room Challenge and Mood Board.

Happy New Year. We are jumping right out of the gate with a room makeover. This is our very first time participating in the $100 Room Challenge. Here is a brief summary of how this challenge works. Myself, along with dozens of my blogging friends, take on one room in our homes and we get one month, and only $100, to completely transform it. We report our progress each week on Wednesday’s until the big reveal. Our first challenge is a gift for Honey Bee – a home office makeover!

Basic Plan

Here are a couple of the element and design ideas for the home office makeover.

Honey Bee and I both work from home. Somehow, he ended up with an entire room to himself. LOL Not sure how that happened, but it became evident to Jenn and I that his space needs some help.

There are boxes and paperwork everywhere. In all honesty, this is how Honey Bee has always worked. When he was in the corporate world, he needed client files at a moments notice. It was easiest to have all of the files within easy reach. The problem is, this creates so much clutter.

Working from Home

Now he works from home as an executive life coach, and he has kept up the same paperwork filing system. It’s time to break the habit (or break out the matches LOL). Being that I jumped on the challenge at the last minute, and the holidays have just ended, I need to do some research for storage solutions.

The printer needs a home as it is currently on the floor.

This home office also needs to be more functional and comfortable. Honey Bee is at his desk a good part of the day – client calls, conference calls and more!

As you can see, we have our work cut out for us. I’ll be doing the bulk of the work and Jenn will help when time permits. Wish us luck!

To-Do List

  1. Clear the room
  2. Paint all of the walls
  3. Go to storage unit to search for furniture
  4. Create an art piece with vintage oars
  5. Home for the computer
  6. Storage solutions
  7. Add new artwork
  8. Move desk to new location
  9. Furniture placement

  4. Am really curious how you get him on board. Our home office has a lot of similarities. I’ve been told to not touch anything because he knows exactly where everything is at. Huh!? How is that possible? I like things to look tidy with labels and such. Hence, am really looking forward to seeing how you not only manage all of the stacks but how you keep this space his.

  5. Vicki and Jenn I can’t wait to see it. I love all the beautiful home decor work that you do and I know you are going to have a gorgeous space when you are done. I did my home office 2 years ago and though it’s a tad (maybe more) messy at the moment, it was well worth it.
