Hey y’all…I’ve been busy working on my big to-do list, slowing checking things off. I consider myself a professional list maker. I can have several running lists at any given time…grocery list, errand list, projects to try, projects to make, etc. My lists are my way of reining in some control in my life. But, sometimes control is out of my hands – as in I can’t control the weather.

The past 2 weeks it has rained practically ever single day. Don’t get me wrong, we need the rain but the rain is not my friend when I have projects that I want to get completed. Right now I have 3 incomplete projects sitting in the garage waiting for my attention. Alas, they will have to wait until blue skies return.

In the meantime I threw together this cute and quick Fall Antler Art project. Do you remember a couple of weeks ago when I scored scrapbook paper for .30 cents a sheet and created art for the guest bathroom? I also purchased these sheets in the hope of creating something cute for my house.

It’s funny…when I first dreamt up this project I was convinced I was going to use the paper in the middle with all of the cute Fall phrases. After collecting all of my materials that paper just wasn’t the right fit.

I had been hearing a lot of talk about spray chalk paint for craft projects. The problem was, I could never find it for sale anywhere. A few weeks ago I was at the craft store and this was on the shelves…

I used my 40% off coupon and it was a deal.  I purchased the silk leaves at the dollar store. There were 25 in the package but for this project I only needed one. The leaves are pretty but not the look I was going for. I used the spray paint on the leaf and the lettering. I may or may not have had to contort myself in the corner of the garage in order to paint inside away from the rain…and hide the painted concrete under a box. Don’t tell Honey Bee!  But because of my painting efforts, this…

…became this!

By now I know that you’re sick of hearing about these barn wood frames that I use in so many projects. I just love how old and rustic they are. The scrapbook paper with the weathered wood look was definitely the right choice. I roughly drew out an antler pattern and cut it out of cardstock. The letters are from my stash. I glued everything into place and that’s it…

Isn’t it cute?

I love the 3D look of the letters…

It’s important to me that projects, especially seasonal ones like this, don’t cost very much money.  I like to change things around quite a bit in the house. For now this sweet piece is on my mantel, but I’m sure it will be moved again.

I hope you’re inspired to make something for you home. Hopefully blues skies will be smiling at me very soon!

Until tomorrow,

XO~Vicki

  1. I’ve never used chalky finish spray paint before! It makes that leaf look like paper, too cool! Love this little touch of fall you’ve created. You can use this anywhere in your home. So creative, Coco

    1. Hey CoCo – this is our first time using this spray chalk paint. I would highly recommend it for craft projects and possibly a small piece of furniture. I’m not sure how it would do for a large piece of furniture. We will save that for a later day to explore!

  2. I admire anyone that makes lists. To me, making a list is just another thing I have to get done in my day, kudos to you! I love your project and I never heard of chalky paint. I will have to give it a try since I am a spray paint nut.

    1. Mary Beth – you definitely need to check out this spray chalk paint. Be sure to use your coupon if you purchase from Hobby Lobby. It’s a great savings.

  3. Vicki, this is amazing and I love the rustic frame the paper, the antlers and that you chalk painted the leaf and added the cute berries. Just darling and your creativity knows no bounds. You’re on a roll. xo Lisa
