Hey y’all…If you have been following 2 Bees for awhile it can’t come as a surprise that we love HomeGoods. Do you shop here too?I thought I would share my top 6 things to buy at HomeGoods for home decor and DIY projects.
HomeGoods offers very affordable home decor and household items. They offer everything that you need to outfit your home…furniture, rugs, towels, bedding and tons of other decorative items. Another thing I really appreciate is that their merchandise is up-to-date with current design trends. They sell things so quickly they restock their shelves every Tuesday and Thursday – yes, I asked 🙂 So if you see something that you like, buy it because it probably won’t be there tomorrow. I have learned this lesson the hard way.
1. Tablecloths
HomeGoods has a large variety of table linens – some of them are even designer labels. I use the tablecloths to create my own DIY curtains.
There is so much fabric in a tablecloth that they make pretty curtain panels. Even if you have 12 foot ceilings, you just need a 96″ length tablecloth. These curtain panels that I made required no sewing at all. I just added clip-on curtain rings. Each tablecloth was about $8.99 each. When you consider that a yard of fabric is much more than that, this is a great value and big design impact.
2. Lamps
HomeGoods lamp department is one of my favorite places to get lost. They offer a wide variety of styles with lamps for everyone’s budget. Typically in my area lamps start at $9.99 and go up to about $49.99. If you have shopped department stores or furniture stores lamps usually start at $129.00 and go upwards of $400.00
These forged brass lamps were $29.99 each…
…and so were these antique gray wood lamps.
3. Colored Glassware
Here’s where I think the very best design value is…colored glassware. There is a giant selection of color and sizes.
Pieces start as low as $1.99 and go up to $19.99 This purple vessel was $7.99. I like to group like colors together for a home design change.
These turquoise bottles are large and were $8.99 each.
4. Cloth Napkins and Dish Towels
This is really where the fun and creativity begins. HomeGoods already offers affordable cloth napkins and dish towels. I personally use some of them in my home decor. A 4-pack of napkins was only $6.99. I made this pillow cover from two cloth napkins. You can read that post HERE.
I made this pillow from a decorative dish towel. The towel was $3.99 and I already had the pillow – so a very affordable decor change-up.
5. Art and Wall Hangings
As you know, filling up your walls with artwork and wall hangings can be very costly. HomeGoods has a very large department and assortment of oil painting, framed art, mirrors and decorative wall hangings. The first thing I look for is the clearance items in the art department. One time I was lucky enough to find three of these vintage inspired wooden mirrors for $5.00 each!
This framed piece was $29.99 and it is very large.
Remember when I purchased this clearance item for $6.99? A definite score!
6. Pillows
If you don’t feel like sewing your own pillows HomeGoods offers beautiful designer-like pillows.
You will pay a little bit more for feather pillow insert pillows but they are still a fantastic price.
All three of these pillows are from HomeGoods. The two navy pillows were purchased several years ago and they still look beautiful.
So, what do you think of my list? Most of these items can be kept for years to come. Remember you can move them and rotate your decor throughout your house. Or like Jenn and I, we trade things back and forth.
I feel like for a small investment my home always looks fresh and up to date. What is your favorite HomeGoods purchase or tip(s)?
Until tomorrow,
Love this post ladies! You’re so right Home Goods has some beautiful things at great prices too. I love their rugs and linen section and don’t even get me started on their basket section , swoon! Hugs, CoCo
I love love LOVE HomeGoods! I had to chuckle to myself while reading this post because I have done most everything you’ve mentioned! Tablecloth curtains check. Napkin pillow covers check. Home Goods pillows check. Artwork check. Great minds and all that!! If we lived close I’d probably see you in Home Goods regularly! Hehe! Liz
HomeGoods is my FAVORITE!!!! (much to my husband’s chagrin)
My family room drapery panels are actually 4 Ralph Lauren tablecloths, and I’ve been asked if they are custom. I found a little trick about pinching the fabric and attaching clip rings to that (rather than just along the edge) and it truly does give the illusion of a pinch-pleated drape.
I agree and have one addition. I love their placemats.
Interesting article! I like all the info and stuff. I have a larger home to decorate and I want decorate it beautifully. I found this article very helpful for me. Thanks for sharing.
