Hey y’all – I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I’m excited to show you my chalk paint makeover for a pair of tables in my living room. But first, I hope you will allow me a moment to share something personal with you. I know that when you graciously come here to read the latest posts from Jenn and I, life on the surface can seem like sunshine and rainbows. Reality is – we are just like all of you. We deal with everyday life – busy schedules, family, work, emergencies and illness. This past week was a tad stressful for me and my family. My sweet dad had a mild heart attack…everything is totally fine now. He got to the hospital right away and had excellent care for his five-day stay. Dad was even the first patient in the state of Georgia to receive a new type of stent…it was written up in the local news and medical journals too. Dad was pretty excited by this – as he should be. I know that we missed posting our blog for a few days and just felt that I owed you an explanation. I am very grateful that my dad is doing so well and appreciate your understanding!

Now…back to the furniture makeover.

In transforming and making-over the lake house, budget is always first and foremost on the scale of importance. I have moved furniture and accessories from room-to-room to help achieve a different look in the house. I have also purged and donated furniture and decor that no longer fit in the house. As you know, I am a big fan of painting furniture and accessories. It is the easiest, quickest and least expensive way to achieve the design look and style of your dreams. We purchased two of these end tables with the matching coffee table over nine years ago.

The tables have great legs, but I no longer like the dark finish. I want everything to be lighter and brighter now that we live here full-time. I already had this can of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Pure White. After just two light coats of paint I was very happy with the finish. I decided that I didn’t want to distress the finish at all.

I love how they turned out. I can’t even believe that they are the same tables! I sprayed the hardware with one coat of hammered antique brass.

I like that the table has a drawer for storage and I especially love the bottom shelf for displaying decor and vignettes.

Did you happen to see our post last week for this Easy Lamp Makeover? Doesn’t the cobalt blue just pop off of the white?

If you follow us on Instagram, you already saw this sneak peek. The antique book was a recent purchase for just $4.00. When I originally bought it, it was strictly for the color and the price. I knew the book of French Short Stories would look perfect displayed on this table. To my pleasant surprise, when I got the book home I discovered that it is a first edition printing and worth a lot more money that I paid. Winning!

I don’t want to make y’all even more jealous, but I just love to share a great shopping deal. Especially if it is from thrifting. I bought this wooden row boat several years ago at a Salvation Army Store in North Carolina. Are you ready? This was a $5.00 score! I know, right? It is all made of real wood and it does float. It seems to have its original paint finish and the oars, which is a stroke of luck. And can you believe how well the color matches the living room?

As I stated earlier, these tables are a pair. I use the second table behind the club chair.

I smile every time I look at this photograph of some of the most favorite men in my life.

You know I love vintage bottles!

I am so happy with the transformation of these end tables as well as the overall look of the living room. I hope that you are encouraged to transform a furniture piece of your very own. This chalk paint furniture makeover for a pair of tables was free to me – it didn’t cost me any extra money. A can of chalk paint can paint up to 5 or 6 pieces of furniture depending how large the pieces are.  It is a great overall value and small investment for your decorating style needs. We would love to see pieces that you transform for your own home!
