Thrift Store Caddy Makeover

Someone recently asked me “How do you find such great stuff at the thrift store?” Trust me, this is not always the case. There have been plenty of times that I have left empty-handed due to low inventory  or dejected by high prices. I certainly try to keep an open mind, a keen eye and an organized list of items that I am always on the hunt for.

As of late the thrifting gods have been very good to me. I spied this cute honey caddy and snagged it for the cool price of just .50 cents.

Overall the condition was very good, but the wood finish was too orange. Also the graphics on the other side were a tad blurry, this is not from my camera skills 🙂 At first I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me until I realized it was definitely the graphics.

The paper label was coming off too, so it was time for a thrift store caddy makeover.

DecoArt makes a great chalky type paint and my favorite color is Vintage. This paint is perfect for small projects because the paint dries quickly and cleans up easily.

Steps:

Quick, easy and super cute!

Remember, only distress the paint in areas that would have natural wear and tear. Edges, handles and corners.

This little cutie will probably end up in my booth space at the antique mall. Boy stuff is selling out there quicker than I can keep it stocked up.

Definitely a good problem to have! But it will be hard to let this one go.

Don’t forget to pin this to your favorite Pinterest board!

  1. This little farm caddy is too cute and I love the color blue you chose. It’s such a peaceful color. You’re going to be able to use this sweet piece all year – so exciting! Hugs, CoCo
