Hey y’all…what have you been up to?
We experienced beautiful weather this weekend. You know, the kind of weather that holds the promise that Spring is right around the corner. Bright blue sky, slight breeze and naturally a bit warmer. Days like this have been too few and far between in our area of the world.
I felt a renewed sense of energy and excitement. I found myself wanting to clean house and spruce up otherwise dusty areas. Now, trust me – this isn’t normal for me. I typically avoid cleaning like the plague. I would much rather be creating messes by decorating, crafting or painting furniture. But, Saturday I hoisted the windows open, blasted my Top 40 tunes and I became a cleaning machine! I clean much better to music – I think it makes me do it faster, like to the beat of the music!
After a bit, I began to focus attention on my mantle. It still had its Winter decor – which I loved – but I wanted it to look a bit more lively and vibrant, just like my mood!
I had been gathering together a couple of items that I thought would look good for a Spring Mantle Update. Surprisingly most of those items didn’t make the cut.Ā I decided to use a lot of bright color with weathered and vintage elements.
This bird nest is a combination of a real nest paired with an artificial one…
ā¦and this adorable bunny silhouette painted on barn wood was purchased at a cute shop last year.
Y’all have seen me use these moss balls in my decor for over a year now. I love moving them from room to room and displayed in different ways. Here I placed it on top of my grandmother’s vintage African violet pot.
I collect vintage architectural pieces like this one reportedly from an old porch…
I couldn’t resist buying these flowers from a local farmer’s market. To give the appearance of a larger display, I arranged the flowers in a glass vase and then placed the vase inside this vintage galvanized bucket.
I’ve honestly lost count of how long I have had this antique shutter. There is actually a pair of them and I bought them when we lived in North Carolina. They came from an old family farm that was sadly being torn down for development. This is the original paint color and there are layers and layers of it. I love them and my North Carolina memories.
I needed to change out the framed chalkboard graphics. I again used my same trick of writing on black foam board. For Jennifer and I, we naturally think of Bees and Spring š
I hope you approve of my new mantle decor!
Have you decorated your mantle for Spring? We would love to see it!
Wellā¦that’s it for now. I hear Bruno Mars and Uptown Funk calling my name!!
