Hey y’all…I am loving today’s project. Why? Because it’s fast, easy and inexpensive! If you read THIS post last week, we shared that we are guest participants in the One Room Challenge™. We are creating a master bedroom closet in Jennifer’s 1901 Victorian home. She created the mood board for her vision of what she would like for the end result to be. I promise you that we are working hard to make this dream a reality. Jenn has chosen weathered wood, copper and white as her main features. One wish-list item is a copper based lamp and it is a bit pricey. I have done lamp makeovers before and I knew I could do it again. My favorite way to achieve a new look is by starting with a thrift store brass lamp. HERE is a lamp makeover I did in glossy white.
I headed out to Goodwill and made a beeline for the back of the store. I made sure to check the big sign at the front of the store first to see what color tags were 50%…and it was yellow. I found lots of good options and I ended up purchasing this large brass lamp.
It is in great working order, heavy and in good shape. As you can see it has a yellow tag, so I paid a little less than $8.00 for this lamp.
I had this hammered copper spray paint leftover from another project.
I carefully covered and taped up the areas of the lamp that I did not want painted…
Are you ready?
Isn’t it pretty? The power of paint is a beautiful thing 🙂 I did two light coats of spray paint and they dried very quickly. Within about 15 minutes the lamp looked totally new and fresh.
I didn’t even realize until I got home with the lamp, that it has a weathered wood base…so it fits right in with Jenn’s design!
The lampshade is a HomeGoods clearance item – also $8.00.
So for $16.00 I was able to create this “new” lamp for the closet makeover, as opposed to the $225.00 price tag of the inspiration lamp.
Jenn is very cost conscious and is keeping her budget in mind for this entire project. I am so happy that I can help her and hopefully she will love the lamp. If not…mama’s already got a spot picked out for the new lamp!
Don’t forget to Pin this to your Pinterest boards for later reference!
Until tomorrow…
So pretty! I love the texture from that spray paint.
This looks great! I love the transformation. Anything hammered and weathered is a win win 🙂 hugs, CoCo
You did a wonderful job!
It’s a beauty! thanks
Love this. I won’t be passing lamps by at the thrift store.
wow! That is gorgeous and what a steal!
