If I have said it once, I have said it a thousand times. A lamp makeover is one of my most favorite and easy to do DIY projects. Typically I use spray paint because there are endless possibilities of colors and finishes. It’s also an instant gratification project 🙂 As I mentioned before, I am working on an entryway makeover. I have a long foyer table and I needed a large lamp on one end of it.
When I went to the thrift store in search of a coffee table for Jenn’s She Shed, I discovered this beauty on a shelf at the back of the store.
Don’t ever be afraid of the shiny gold and brassy lamps. They are strong , sturdy and perfect for a makeover. I scored this lamp for just under $4.00! And it came with a lightbulb and this awesome acorn finial.
The finish had a few spots of tarnish on it, but the spray paint will take care of that. The height and shape are the main things I look for.
I gave the lamp an overall quick cleaning. After taping up the socket and the cord I was ready to paint. My paint stash came to the rescue again. I’ve used this glossy white paint before and I knew it would be perfect for this lamp. It has primer and paint mixed together for better coverage.
Here’s the new look…
I temporarily borrowed this lampshade from another lamp in the house. This week I will be on the hunt for a larger shade.
I spray painted the finial too.
I love pairing the cobalt blue and white.
Stay tuned for next week when I reveal the new entryway.
The lamp is the perfect addition!
Come back tomorrow to see our progress on the She Shed! It’s all coming together and we couldn’t be more excited!
Looks so easy👍. Can’t wait to see the progress on the She Shed.
Thank you Ladies.
This lamp totally looks like a vintage alabaster lamp now! Love the new look, I swear paint works wonders. Hugs, CoCo
