Easy Lamp Makeover with Spray Paint

If I have said it once, I have said it a thousand times. A lamp makeover is one of my most favorite and easy to do DIY projects. Typically I use spray paint because there are endless possibilities of colors and finishes. It’s also an instant gratification project 🙂 As I mentioned before, I am working on an entryway makeover. I have a long foyer table and I needed a large lamp on one end of it.

When I went to the thrift store in search of a coffee table for Jenn’s She Shed, I discovered this beauty on a shelf at the back of the store.

 

Don’t ever be afraid of the shiny gold and brassy lamps. They are strong , sturdy and perfect for a makeover. I scored this lamp for just under $4.00! And it came with a lightbulb and this awesome acorn finial.

The finish had a few spots of tarnish on it, but the spray paint will take care of that. The height and shape are the main things I look for.

I gave the lamp an overall quick cleaning. After taping up the socket and the cord I was ready to paint. My paint stash came to the rescue again. I’ve used this glossy white paint before and I knew it would be perfect for this lamp. It has primer and paint mixed together for better coverage.

Here’s the new look…

I temporarily borrowed this lampshade from another lamp in the house. This week I will be on the hunt for a larger shade.

I spray painted the finial too.

I love pairing the cobalt blue and white.
