Welcome to Week 1 of our guest bathroom makeover!

Oh my word y’all. We have decided at the very last second to once again join the One Room Challenge™! This time around we will be doing a guest bathroom makeover at Jenn’s house.

The One Room Challenge™ is a fabulous six week endeavor in which a group of featured designers and guest participants make over a space in their home. Each week we’ll share our progress towards the big reveal on November 6! We’ve participated in the past to create Jenn’s Master Bedroom Closet and She Shed. Also, we completed Vicki’s Guest Bathroom Makeover.

Our home is a 1901 Victorian in the heart of Atlanta, GA. Fortunately, the house had already been renovated when we purchased it four years ago. After we moved in, there were a few quirky things that bothered us. One being the lack of a master bedroom closet, necessitating a makeover. The other issue we have is with the upstairs guest bathroom.

First Glance

At first glance, it is very roomy and pretty. We think that this was actually a converted attic, hence the pitched ceilings.

Upon closer inspection, the vanity is way too orange looking.

The bathtub surround tiles are dated and there are too many shapes of tiles. The brown/green tiles really bother us the most.

Our biggest issue with this bathroom is…there is no shower!  This means that when guests come to visit us they have to shower in our master bathroom. Meanwhile, the upstairs bedroom, bathroom and alcove area are very large.

This grout has got to change as well. Its caramel brown color and is not our taste.

Dream Board

This is what we are hoping to incorporate into the guest bathroom makeover.

So, here’s our To-Do List (so far):

  • Paint the walls
  • New tile for bathtub area
  • Re-grout floor tile with dark grout
  • New light fixture
  • Paint vanity
  • New vanity top
  • New vanity hardware for doors and drawers
  • Sink faucet
  • Tub faucet
  • Towel Hooks
  • TP Holder
  • Hand towel ring
  • Rug
  • Mirror
