Hey y’all…Of all of the things I decorate, my dining room shelves are one of my favorites to style. I typically change things around 6 to 8 times per year and when appropriate I add seasonal elements.
The first thing I do is remove everything from the shelves to start with a fresh slate. Most items make their way back to the alcove but in a different place.
You may remember that I opted to get rid of the top portion of my formal china cabinet in lieu of adding these shelves. I feel it is one of the best design decisions I ever made. It allows me to be more creative with displays and I can see everything rather than it being stowed away inside a cabinet.
Do you remember when I showed you how the dining room shelves looked this summer?
Well, this is how the dining room shelves look for Fall…
A bit of a warmer pallette – I added soup tureens, dark metals, fall foliage…
…and this super cute owl platter.
Adorable, right? He was on clearance at HomeGoods and I couldn’t pass him up.
I added a lot more white porcelain by way of the cake plate, dishes and tureens.
The baskets with French script numbers are a staple in this room. They also hide and store lots of cloth dinner napkins.
I continued the cork theme that I started with my Fall Coffee Table and Fall Tablescape Wine Dinner.
Berries, pumpkins and colorful leaves signify Fall…
Does anyone know what this mold was used for? Or, is it even a mold?
This oversized acorn is a new addition this year too.
At the first signs of Fall I start making soup. These tureens get used often.
We use our dining room often, especially at this time of year. I’m always impressed when our dinner guests can note the subtle changes that I make.
The shelves will stay this way throughout the season. I may change a few things in preparation of Thanksgiving…I’m thinking copper. Stay tuned!
Until tomorrow…
Totally cute! Great styling (like I’m surprised?!)😊
You are so sweet Liz! Thank you very much!
This looks so good, Vicki! I love the subtle changes you added to make this space extra special for the fall season. There are so many things that scream “ship to Florida” 🙂 Hugs for a happy weekend, CoCo
Hey CoCo – you know I had a Dickens of a time with the non-existent sunshine LOL. Packing your crate tomorrow!
So pretty Vicki. Your fall on the shelves is gorgeous and I love your white buffet chest. That is an amazing piece. It all looks beautiful.
Kris
Kris – you are always so sweet and kind! Thank you so much!
These shelves are the bomb! Such a great alternative to the original china cabinet hutch. You’re right, Vicki, this is one of your best design decisions. I always enjoy checking out your seasonal changes!
Bambi
Thanks Bambi! You know how much I love these shelves. Thank you so very much dear friend!
Beautifully styled shelves! No wonder I love your blog, I see several items on your shelves that I own too! 🙂
Hi Angie – Great minds think alike! Can’t thank you enough!
Hi Vicki, It all looks beautiful and love the fall touches, white china, mini pumpkins and that owl platters is a hoot. Great to be back seeing all your lovely goodness. xo Lisa
Hey Lisa – So glad you are here! You know I love to mix it up. I love that owl and he was on clearance at TJMaxx!
Love the shelves and the way that you have them styled, Vicki!
Hi Suzy – That is a high compliment coming from you! Thank you so very much!
That shelving was such a great idea! Everything looks so beautiful on the shelves! This is great inspiration for me if I can get someone to empty and remove the top of mine!
Hey Karen – it really was one of my smarter ideas LOL. I’m just not a formal china cabinet kind of girl. Plus the shelves hold my larger platters and more decor items!
Love your styling and that sideboard is stunning! You did a lovely job! I would be so happy if you would share this at Making Broken Beautiful. It goes every week from Thursday to sunday. Love your work and I hope you will join in inspiring us all!
Smiles!
