I found another great find recently that I just couldn’t pass up. I’ve been looking for something to go in my entry because for quite some time now it has been bare and looks sad.
So when I saw this great shelf at an antique store, I knew I could make it my own. Plus it had recently been reduced from $45 to $15!
The first thing I had to do was prime it because painting over the red would be difficult. I also wanted to take the backing off, which easily came off.
I then had to decide which color to paint it and I decided to go with a dark grey. The walls are a light grey and the living room is grey and yellow, so I thought a dark grey would compliment this well. I just went to Lowes and got a small sample of this paint…I still have plenty left for any future projects and it only cost $2.50.
Once I hung it up, I needed to add some accent pieces and I decided to incorporate yellows again so that the living room and entryway would flow well together. I also thought the gourds were great to use, not only because of their color, but because it represents fall. It also serves a purpose of holding Teddy’s leash, which we honestly had no real spot for.
I thought that this sign would be perfect to see when you first walk into my house, and I also love the little lantern I was able to use as well.
What was once a boring entry way, now has a little more character. And the best part is it only cost about $20 in total…I luckily already had the accent pieces 🙂
