Hey y’all…Can I just tell y’all how glad I am that Jennifer returns home tomorrow? She is back in Ireland on another business trip and it seems like she’s been gone forever. She’s had some amazing experiences on this trip that I am sure she will tell you all about later. But I’m just happy she will be home in Atlanta! Okay, enough mushy stuff LOL.
Earlier this week we shared our fall tablescape and we are blown away by how much you liked it! We can’t thank you enough for thoughtfulness and support!! We couldn’t do this everyday without you!
We had a lot of interest and questions about the DIY place cards that were at each place setting. So, I thought I would show you how I made them. I think that these potted faux succulents could be used at the dining table year round, but I will be using them for Fall and Thanksgiving.
Okay…lets get started.
Materials:
- miniature clay pots
- faux succulents
- moss
- craft paint
- name tag
First, I purchased miniature clay pots. This set of six was the exact number that I needed. I bought them at the dollar store in the summer, but I have seen them in the floral department of craft stores. Remember to use your coupons!
I gathered up my materials:
I dry-brushed the white paint onto the clay pots. This doesn’t need to be a perfect paint job. I wanted the pot to look a bit aged and worn. After the paint dried, I sanded some of the paint off until I achieved the look that I wanted.
This is where the fun really starts…
…I added the moss first. It doesn’t need to be packed in – just loosely placed inside the pot.
Here’s a tip to remember when purchasing the faux succulents. They can be expensive. Try to purchase the ones that have multiple plants on them. The wire can be unwrapped and you can separate them. For example – this plant had three separate pieces on them. Therefore only two would need to be purchased for this project.
Place the succulent stem inside the miniature pot – you may need to fold the wire.
I found these super cute kraft paper banner picks in the Dollar Spot at Target. For a bit of shimmer I used a metallic silver paint pen to write the names of guests.
That’s it! Thee literally took just minutes to make and I think they look really cute. They make great party favors too!
I think place cards add something extra special to the table for guests.

So…I hope I answered all of your questions. More importantly I hope that you’re inspired to create something for your next dinner party!
Until tomorrow…
XO~Vicki
