Hey y’all…it feels so good to be here today with a brand new post! Great progress has been made this week on the house and I will have lots to show you next week! I’ve also worked on cleaning and revamping the outdoor patio area. I plan to do a lot of entertaining this Summer and hope our tiny patio will get a lot of use. Today’s project was born from the necessity of transporting items from the kitchen to the outdoor patio area. I decided to create a DIY Nautical Serving Tray. It fits in with our new “lake life” – plus it was super easy and inexpensive to make – just about $10! I purchased the materials in the photo below at Home Depot.
Okay, lets get started.
Materials used:
- 18 inch round wood disc $4.50
- 2 Boating cleats $2.00 each
- 4 screws for the cleats $1.00 per pkg.
- Stain – from my stash
- Drill
- Screwdriver
I love the industrial look of the cleats…
I already had this stain in my personal stash and I thought that “Sunbleached” was the perfect color and tone for the nautical look I was going for. This brand of stain dries very quickly. I applied two light coats and it was completely dry within an hour.
I pre-drilled the holes for the screws for the boat cleats. I screwed them in until they were tightly secured. That’s it! Like I said – super simple project!
Let’s get this party started!
This tray is the perfect size and weight to easily carry from the kitchen to the patio.
We have already had the privilege of entertaining out-of-town guests. We can’t wait to host happy hours, dinners and more throughout the Summer.
If you know where we are, stop on by…the patio is OPEN!

Have a wonderful weekend and see you back here on Monday!

Ok, that’s just too cute and SIMPLE! Just love it. I’ve never even thought to look for a sunbleached stain. I think I just have to have one of these!
