Citronella Candles in Mini Clay Pots
Our weather has been absolutely beautiful for the past couple of weeks. With the exception of a rainy day – this has been perfect Springtime weather. I have been working a lot on my front porch and have changed everything around quite a bit. The pollen and dirt have been banished. New chairs and a colorful rug have been added. I’m making a coffee table and looking for heat-surviving plants. I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been up to!
Sadly, this weather brings with it the pesky mosquito. I’m fairly certain that wherever there is oxygen you will find these pesky critters. While they don’t bite me I know that some people suffer terribly from mosquito bites. I decided to come up with an idea to make everyone more comfortable while we enjoy relaxing outdoors. Here’s how I created citronella candles in mini clay pots. Affiliate links have been provided for your convenience.
Using craft paint, I dry brushed a light coat for a white-wash effect.
Next, using a pencil I hand drew numbers on each pot.
The numbers were then filled in with a black Sharpie marker.
Y’all know how much I love fresh moss! There is something about the brightness of the color and the softness of the moss. A little bit was added to each clay pot. You can find the moss HERE. This moss is our favorite as it keeps it’s fresh color for a very long time!
**Never leave a lit candle unattended**
Ready to be lit…
Aren’t these the cutest? Fighting bugs can be pretty too!
The citronella fragrance is not overpowering at all. You know how sometimes it takes away your breath? These candles are very mild.
As the season progresses we will update you on how well these tea lights ward off mosquitoes.
Until then…you will find me out on the front porch!
We hope y’all have a fabulous weekend filled with perfect Springtime weather!
