Hello friends, we are so happy that you are here! Today we are sharing our blue and green Christmas tree and all of its trimmings. We will also share some of our decor ideas and cost-saving tips.

My flocked artificial tree was purchased a few years ago at Lowe’s. Previously, I always had a real tree as the main tree of the house. When I found this one, I was hooked. It has a floor push button to turn it on and to change to 7 color settings. This was a super popular tree when I bought it for just $129.00. Sadly, Lowe’s doesn’t offer this tree anymore – but they do have THIS one and THIS one.
This year I changed things up a bit in my overall Christmas color scheme for the living room. Instead of a Blue and Silver Christmas Tree, I went with blue and green. The Kelly green adds more of a pop of color and blends well with the chinoiserie artwork in the room. Teaser alert – You can see a bit of the Christmas mantel that I will be sharing later this week!
The first thing I add to the tree is wide, wired ribbon. Last year I scored this pretty trefoil navy ribbon. I found similar ribbon HERE, but it is almost sold out.
Next, I add large and oversized ornaments. These act as space fillers as well as adding impact to the tree.
The great thing about fake trees is that the limbs can handle heavy ornaments.
Jenn and I love creating new handmade ornaments each year. This year is extra special as we will have a new addition to our family with Baby Bee’s arrival! A couple of weeks ago we shared how to make Air Dry Clay Ornaments Using Cookie Cutters.
Other handmade ornaments on the tree are Decoupage Oyster Shells, DIY Chinoiserie Ornaments and Bottlebrush Snow Globe Ornaments.
This tree is full of memories. We even added some of our travel moments that commemorate special family time together!
I love this extra large Merry Christmas ornament. It’s like a greeting each time I look at the tree.
Here are some of best tips and tricks when decorating an artificial tree.
Fake Christmas Tree Tips
- Before putting up your artificial tree, think of the overall look you want for your decor. Choose 2 main colors to highlight throughout the tree.
- Fluff as much as possible. You need to touch every limb and branch to pull apart, bend and fill bare spots.
- If you still have some bare spots, think of adding pine garland or picks to fill those spaces.
- Add wide, wired ribbon. This is one of your color/pattern choices and it fills bare spots as well.
- Hide other bare spots with large ornaments.
- Use reflective ornaments. This can be glass, mirror or shiny finish. They add sparkle and shine and make the tree look bigger.
- Consider making handmade ornaments. This year we made Air Dry Clay Christmas Using Cookie Cutters.
- Add pine essential oil to a pinecone and tuck it into the tree.

I never thought about putting green ornaments on a green tree but that kelly green really pops on the flocked branches! It turned out so pretty!!
