Early Fall Mantel – Green + White Decor

Today kicks off a fabulous week of fall decor. We have partnered with 29 of our decor blogging friends to bring you our annual Fall Ideas Tour. Our fantastic host, Angie of Postcards from the Ridge, has organized this tour. We will showcase fall mantels. tablescapes, wreaths, crafts and porches. Sit back, relax and enjoy. Monday is for Mantels – and we are sharing our early fall mantel in green and white.

When I was creating this post, there was nary a real pumpkin within a 50 mile radius of my home. Not to mention the fact that our local temps are still hovering near the 100° mark. Recording-setting heat cannot thwart my excitement for my favorite season of the year, Fall.

Pumpkin Spice Latte in hand, essential oils of cinnamon and orange in the diffuser, I was excited to start decorating my mantel for Fall.

It all started with this beautiful painting. Fortunate for me that this was a gift from a sweet friend! Great, right? Being that I had an idea for an early fall mantel, and there weren’t pumpkins available, I opted to use the painting as my inspiration.

I pulled together items that I already had on hand.

I’m a firm believer that home decor need not cost a lot of money. Most of the green and white decor on my mantel I made myself.

Make it Yourself

The floral pumpkin below is a perfect example. The pumpkin was previously a garish orange plastic jack-o-lantern from the thrift store.

Sticks from my yard and faux greenery look beautiful in this moss green glass vase.

Wicker baskets lend a natural element to the hearth. Painted pumpkins look great nestled in.

Another quick way to add color to any mantel, shelf or tabletop is with colored books in like colors.

They add an instant pop of color as well as a cohesive look. For me, it’s a way to showcase personality as well. My beloved Little House on the Prairie book and Beverly Gray mysteries have beautiful green covers. The pumpkin floral centerpiece started out as a styrofoam pumpkin for the Dollar Tree.

What do you think of my early fall mantel in green and white? Hopefully you have been inspired in some small way today. Now let’s see what the other fall mantels look like!
