2 Bees in a Pod just hosted our very first chalk paint class! For years, folks have been begging asking us to teach classes so we finally took the plunge. We hosted five super-fun guests who were eager to learn everything they needed to know about chalk paint. Each participant was asked to bring a small project that they wanted to transform with chalk paint.

One disclaimer – it is almost impossible to teach class and take quality photos at the same time 🙂 Note to self…take better pictures on the fly! Please forgive us for some of the blurry photos.

There was a flurry of action at the painting table.

This thrift store frame ended up only costing $1.00. After sanding down the sticky gunk on the frame, it was ready to be painted with Pure White.

This transformation is night and day. The bright white frame is so bright and fresh. Adding the beautiful artwork, which is really a card, makes for the perfect addition.

How adorable is this handcrafted rocking horse?

Two light coats of Paris Grey were added along with one coat of clear wax. After lightly distressing, this sweet rocking horse has a great antiquated and worn look.

Needless to say, we love how it turned out!

Thrift stores are the perfect place to find photo frames. This thrifted frame was a .25 cent investment. The frame and the artwork were just crying out for an update.

Duck decoys are so cute. This one was made from a resin and composite product.

Look at how perfect this eye detail is!

This was the funniest story of the day.  One class member brought this clock as her chosen project. She stated that for some reason her husband bought this clock and that she never liked it. Before class she took it down from the wall. After she painted it she was going to take it back home and hang it right back on the wall…and see if her husband even noticed LOL. We can’t wait to hear the outcome.

Duck Egg was used for the clocks’ new look. The edges were distressed followed by clear wax and dark wax finishing.

Chalk paint isn’t just for furniture. We have also used it for other photo frames, dollar store bunnies and even this urnJust give it a try…we are fairly certain that you too will fall in love with the power of paint!

We can’t express how grateful we are for this first class of participants! We will be planning more classes in the near future. Ideally we would love to host classes in the She Shed – doesn’t that sound like fun?

  1. Wow, what fun! Your friends will never look at a junky piece of furniture or a trash pile the same way again, now that they’ve learned the power of paint.

  2. How fun! It was a great class; we learned so much and had a blast at the same time! I can’t wait for the next class!

  3. These projects are so much fun! I love how differently they came out and how that clock doesn’t even look like the same clock. I can’t wait to see what he says either. Fab job as always ladies, CoCo

  4. Thanks Vicki and Jen! I had a great time with a fun group of “girls” learning the basics of chaulk painting. Now I’m ready (I think) to take on something a little more challenging than a duck! 😉
