Thrift Store Brass Tray…

I’m popping in today with a quick brag…umm, I mean post about another great thrift store find. Now, don’t be jealous…I found a hammered brass tray for 10 cents! This tray is real brass and has some weight to it. There was definitely a bit of tarnish and pitting, but I figured for 10 cents it was worth the purchase.
Here you can see the pitting spots and tarnish.
I had a bottle of Brasso brass cleaner on hand. I didn’t wear gloves with this product but you do need to be careful to not get into your eyes or on your clothing. It kind of smells like hair perm solution – gross 🙂
I used a paper towel and rubbed the Brasso all over the brass in a circular motion.
As you wipe, your paper towel will become darker and darker as you are pulling off the tarnish and dirt.
And then look at how bright and shiny the tray is now…I love it.
I’m not sure yet where or how I will use this tray. I may use it as a jewelry caddy in my bedroom or I may use it to display some Christmas decor.
