Easy and casual summer family room decor.

Hello friends! We didn’t mean to take such a long break away from this beloved space. I was happily out of town on a houseboat trip. Unbeknownst to me, my scheduled posts didn’t post as they should have. Being that I was out of touch with zero cell service and zero outside communication on Lake Cumberland, I was unaware that this happened. Please enjoy this post for easy and casual summer family room decor!

Pillows are typically the first thing that I change in a room. They offer an immediate and affordable, fresh update.

Buy what you love

Walking through the aisles of Target, this blue and white beauty caught my attention.

I tried walking away and leaving it on the shelf, but it kept calling me back. Even Honey Bee encouraged “You know you’ll be sorry if you don’t get it”. I am so happy that he convinced me to buy this pillow – I would have been sorry!

The “cottage” pillow was an Etsy purchase from a shop that is no longer in business. It is made from the softest drop cloth fabric, making it super comfortable to use.

For the sunroom coffee table, I kept the decor very simple. A few years ago I created this weathered tray from a thrift store find. Adding antique blue books instantly added color and height to the display. Next, I placed the vintage tin can planter on top.

Next to that I placed a framed art piece and a white iron bird.

Love this sentiment, as well as the $3 price tag from Kirkland’s clearance section.

The DIY painted wing chair remains to be our most popular post of all time. Yes, we really did paint it!

As I have mentioned a few times, I am working on giving the guest bedroom a little makeover. The armoire that had previously been in this room has now been moved to the family room. It is resting in the place that my desk once was.

It nestled in perfectly and I still adore how the globes look on top of it.

A couple of weeks ago I showed you how I made these photo holders from antique doorknobs.

I loved them so much, that I have kept them displayed in the family room for now!

See – easy simple summer family room decor. These slight changes made a big impact, but only took a few minutes to do. Have you changed anything in your home recently? We’d love for you to share!

  1. Love the summer changes, looks so inviting!

  2. Love this room! Nothing says ready for summer like navy and white. I know what you mean about pillows calling your name. I have 2 new ones for the summer that called to me too.

  3. Love this light filled space and all the vintage meets new finds you’ve layered in to make it extra special. This whole house feels like a cozy retreat space and I love it! Hugs, CoCo
