Decorating a simple blue and white fall living room.

Actually it’s the sunroom, but it’s more like a living room. The walls are painted with Benjamin Moore’s Hale Navy, so creating a blue and white fall living room was an easy choice.

I’m not ready to delve too deeply into full-on pumpkins, gourds and cinnamon spice. No one is more surprised by this news than I am. Maybe it’s because of the events of the past couples of weeks with the storm. There was so much upheaval and hustle and bustle to our normal routines. Right now I am seeking a bit of calm and tranquility.

Our local weather has been so crazy. When Irma hit, we of course had high winds and the weather dropped into the 50’s. Now we are back up into the 80’s. Insert sad face emoji. Just yesterday I was talking to a friend in Canada and she just experienced her first snow of the season! Can you believe it?

Keep it Neutral

Keeping a neutral color palette of creamy whites and dark blues mixed with wood tones is exactly what I wanted.

Thanks to Hurricane Irma, I have free greenery as my table centerpiece. I just trimmed a tree limb and placed it in a wicker vase with water.

The handmade blue cross pillow was a vacation purchase this summer from a shop in Santa Barbara.

Remember when I chalk painted the books? They are perfect for adding height for the cloche with painted pumpkins.

Vintage bread boards are a great alternative to trays when styling a coffee table.

The painted wing chair continues to be our #1 most popular post. This is where I sit every day and have my morning coffee and answer emails.

Layer with neutrals and wood tones

These are the painted pumpkins from a couple of years ago.

Layers of texture and patterns add interest. The blue and white checked nubby throw is super soft and cozy. Pillows are an instant way to change the look of a room. This creamy white yarn pillow looks handmade.

Copper is a favorite metallic – whether it is shiny and new or weathered and vintage. I love both finishes.

Jenn gave me this cute little mini succulent plant.

The feather pillows are from last year. They were placemats from Target – I just slit one end open and stuffed it with batting and stitched it closed.

A thrift store copper mold holds another faux succulent planting. Super cute, right?

I’m feeling relaxed already!  In a couple of weeks I’m hoping our weather will cool down and I will be ready to get back to pumpkin-spice-everything. In the meantime I’ll be in my blue and white fall living room relaxing, getting back on track and ready for my favorite season
