Soft, pretty, easy – blue and white fall tablescape.
It’s not a secret that I love blue and white. This color combination is crisp, clean and classic. Especially for cottage lake life style. Even though typical fall decor colors are hues of orange, red, yellow and brown there can be other colors too. A blue and white fall tablescape just seems most natural for my home.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the traditional stuff too. Did you see my fall entry table? It screamed with a riot of fall colors. For the most part, my home is mostly shades of navy, blues and white.
An idea was born
Let me tell you a bit of my thought process and how this whole blue and white tablescape idea came together. When Jenn and I were in Franklin, TN last week there was the best home decor shop called Tin Cottage. If you read our travel recap post yesterday about our girl’s getaway weekend, there was a hint mentioned of a purchase for this tablescape.
This purchase sparked the tablescape idea
When I spotted this pouch I just knew I had to have it.
At first I thought it was pricey. But then I realized there were 8 silverware pouches, not just 4 like I originally thought. After looking at how well made these cuties are, I quickly ran the numbers in my head. I realized I couldn’t make them for this price. Besides we all know that vacation money is really like Monopoly money, right? 🙂 Whatever you spend when you are out having fun doesn’t count! Right there in the middle of Tin Cottage my tablescape vision started to come to life. Relaxed, blue, white, soft, pretty and easy. Really how I live my life and decorate my home.
These cute linen silverware pouches have copper plates on the front that come with printed tag inserts. There are several different reusable phrases. It will even be fun to print my own too!
Drop cloth tablecloth

Nothing is more effortless or easy than a drop cloth as a tablecloth. Yes, I do mean the same drop cloth from the paint department of the hardware store. In our post for DIY Market Bags we share how to bleach a drop cloth. This method takes the heavy canvas to a soft and dreamy, creamy off-white. The fabric drapes beautifully on the table. We like to use a drop cloth like THIS
I pulled everything out of the cupboards that I thought that I might use for the tablescape. Including the pumpkins from these past projects
- Faux Acorns – please DO NOT use real acorns inside your home. Acorns carry mites. Even baking acorns in your oven will more than likely will not get rid of these pesky mites. You can purchase an entire bag of faux acorns HERE for less than $8. Split it with a friend.
Clearance sale dish cloths are still a favorite substitute for dinner napkins. Typically they come in a set of two, they are oversized for good lap coverage and I love the sale price. You can get the look of my striped cloths HERE and THIS one for a great price for a dozen!
See how cute the silverware pouches are?

For the life of me, I can’t remember where I got the copper pitcher from. Thinking back, I know that I have had it for over 15 years – and I get asked about it a lot LOL.
My faux acorns look like the real deal. You know how much I love fresh hydrangeas as they last 2-3 weeks in fresh water.
The neutral painted pumpkins look perfect on the table.
Stick stems add to the natural setting of leaves, acorns and flowers.
Cobalt blue and white is always beautiful, especially these patterned bowls from Portugal. And it was impossible to resist their clearance sale price of $2.00 each at HomeGoods. They will be perfect for soup!
Ready for fun fall suppers, soup with friends and impromptu wine nights.
