Hello there…are you in the holiday spirit yet? We have just started doing a few projects – some crafts, ornaments and hostess gifts. We need to get Santa’s workshop up and running! We have a lot planned that we haven’t even begun to work on 🙂
Call us crazy but, we love cold weather. We had a few flurries yesterday, but that was it. Being that our weather has turned cold and blustery I was inspired to create today’s art project…this cute snowman!
I started with this rustic piece of antique fencing that was leftover from Jennifer’s wedding. I gathered assorted paints and brushes and set to work…
Using white acrylic paint, I created an outline of the snowman…
…and painted within the outline for the snowman’s body.
Still using the white paint, I created a snowflake.
I completed the snowman by painting his face and adding buttons. After I added his hat, I felt like it needed more depth, so I added a holly leaf and berries. For a 3-D effect, I glued down a small branch as his arm,
Finally, I painted the “Let it Snow” phrase. I’m still holding out for some snow 🙂
I’m not sure yet what I’m doing with Mr. Snowman yet. He would be cute on a shelf or mantel tucked in with other decorations. He would also be a great gift!
I sincerely hope that you give painting a try. Especially with this project, it does not have to be perfect as you can see. Just have fun with it…you just might like it!
Love this sign ladies, super cute! The addition of those sweet little branches really puts it over the top! Love!
Thanks so much CoCo – I liked the 3D effect of the branches too 🙂
Cute! Would make a great front door greeting!
That’s a great idea Angie! Thanks so much 🙂
…and he looks great on the mantel.
Thanks honey!
I love the simplicity of this sign! Would love to make one myself using your instructions. Saw it on Instagram – thanks for sharing!
