For the holidays, we always like to do something special for our dogs…typically it’s embarrassing them by making them dress up in some sort of outfit. But we also like to give them a stocking full of goodies.
This year I thought it would be nice to make both Teddy and Starbuck a homemade treat that I know they will love.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup canned pumpkin
- 2 tbsp peanut butter
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Whisk together flour, eggs, pumpkin, peanut butter, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl. After initially mixed all ingredients together I then used my hands to really mix everything well. You may also need to add a little bit of water.
Roll the dough into a ball. Then flour a hard surface and use a rolling pin to roll the dough out, which should be about 1/2 inch thick.
Use a cookie cutter to make a cute shape.
Bake in over for about 30 minutes, or until hard.

After this, use a whisk to mix all ingredients (I eventually just used my hands).
You will want to flour whatever surface you use to avoid the dough sticking and then use a rolling pin to flatten the dough out.
Since this is for Christmas, I thought the Christmas Tree was the perfect cookie cutter to use…
Now they are ready to be handed out for special treats.
And Teddy was lucky enough to be the taste tester…I think he likes them!
What are you giving your furry friends for the holidays?
