Creating a book page Christmas tree is fun and easy to do.

Please don’t shoot the messenger. We know that it is a bit early to be sharing a Christmas post. Okay, maybe it’s way too early for some of you. But remember on Tuesday of this week we gave you fair warning that this post was coming LOL. It’s the monthly Thrift Store Decor Upcycle Challenge and we couldn’t resist the opportunity to share the perfect project! A framed book page Christmas tree. Here’s how it works.

Don’t you love it when you find a great deal at the thrift store? On a recent shopping excursion we couldn’t believe our luck. We found this stack of weathered wood 8×10 inch frames.

And the best part?

They were only $1.21 each! Can you believe it? The frames are beautiful and like barn wood. Honestly, this month we feel like we are cheating with our project. The frames are so pretty as they are, they don’t need to be altered in any way. We only needed to create something to go inside.

Merterials Needed

  • 1 8×10 frame
  • 2 book pages. Our book is vintage and falling apart. It was purchased at a yard sale for .25 cents.
  • Off white fabric slightly larger than 8×10. We used a drop cloth remnant.
  • Off white buttons
  • Alphabet stamps
  • Ink pad
  • Hot glue gun and glue

Gather all of the above materials together.

We cut this pattern shape on one book page for the tree and the tree trunk.

After cutting the tree pattern we folded the book page to make a tree shape. For the book page flower tree topper follow our tutorial HERE.

Glue the buttons down in a random pattern as snow.

Use a very light hand gluing the paper tree and flower to the drop cloth fabric. Using the alphabet set, we stamped out “Tis the Season” in the center above the tree.

Also, we decided to remove the glass from the front of the frame. We prefer the book page Christmas tree without it.

You can see the pretty 3-D effect from the side view.

This was such an easy project and obviously very inexpensive. We had all of the materials on-hand. Our only cost was $1.21 for the frame. That’s why we love to visit thrift stores. It spurs our creativity and is very cost effective. Be sure to visit the other creatives and their amazing projects!

Until tomorrow,

And now for more thrifty goodness!
