DIY snow globe terrariums are super easy to create and so versatile.

When creating Christmas and winter decor, one of the quickest and easiest projects is DIY snow globe terrariums. You only need a few items on hand and then let your imagination do the rest. Following are some snow globes that we have created in the past and some new ones from this year.

materials needed

  • Mason jars, cloches or vases. These are what we used. Maybe use leftover food jars.
  • Faux snow
  • Mini trees
  • Ornaments like vehicles, houses, animals or presents

This tall canister was able to hold a taller tree and this cute wooden house ornament.

This is one of my favorite snow globes this year. I found this ornament at HomeGoods for just $2.99.  It was added to this small glass canister with faux snow and two mini trees. I then added the red pop-pom ribbon for fun and color.

Super cute!

Metallics look beautiful and shimmery at night when the Christmas tree is lit.

Playing with the sugar canister, I placed a few of my gingerbread cookies in the sugar “snow” for a fun look.

Jenn made these adorable mason jar snow globe terrarium a few years ago. She uses them in her Christmas decor every year. You can get the full tutorial HERE.

Vintage ceramics can be cute when paired with Christmas trees. This sweet vintage Bambi deer looks great in glass.

DIY Christmas Terrariums

An oversized birdhouse ornament got a Christmas makeover when I added a mini wreath to the perch. With mini trees and snow on top of a birch slice and under a cloche it’s a perfect winter scene.
