DIY USA Banner
As we get ready to celebrate the 4th of July , Independence Day – we are always looking for cute decor items to make to display in our homes. We appreciate items that are handmade and easy to make. Today we bring you another patriotic installment for July 4th. This crafted DIY USA banner was created in under 30 minutes. I gathered together my materials:
- Red, white and blue scrapbook papers from my stash
- Chipboard banner pieces – from Hobby Lobby minus 40% off coupon
- Chipboard USA letters – also from Hobby Lobby at 50% off
- Mod Podge
- White paint and dark wax
- Muslin fabric
- Burlap
- Tea
I traced the chipboard to the backside of each scrapbook paper and cut out each one.
I used Mod Podge to each piece of chipboard banner…
I then placed the cut scrapbook paper to the top of the chipboard. I then added Mod Podge to the tops of the scrapbook paper.
As the Mod Podge dried, I pained the “USA” chipboard letters with leftover white paint.
I roughly cut strips of muslin fabric and dyed them in tea…
I used dark wax to age the letters and give a more rustic look…
I then wove burlap strips through the banner corners…
…and hot-glued the USA letters
I really love crafts that look rustic and antiquated – as if the were crafted many years ago. I feel that this banner enhances my collection. Have you made any patriotic crafts lately?
