Hey there friends. I wanted to share with you a cute gift that I made for Jennifer. I decorated a store bought birdhouse for her living room and I loved the way it turned out. Remember a couple of weeks ago I shared how to make book page flowers? You can see that tutorialĀ here. I used the leftover papers for this project. I decided to make Jenn this gift as the colors coordinate with her living room š Yes, I am a good mom LOL!
The birdhouse is very lightweight – I think it is made of balsa wood. I love Mod Podge as it dries quickly and clear. I used the matte finish – it gives the piece a finished look and hardens the paper without a glossy finish. This is strictly a decorative birdhouse and not meant to be kept outdoors š
Being that the birdhouse has different angles, I just did my best to lay the house down in all directions and traced out the shapes as best as I could.
I also doubled up the paper so that I could cut each side twice.
Mod Podge each piece into place…
Before I glued down the front, I removed the bird perch and created the holes.
The Mod Podge is thick and creamy.
I added the perch back into the piece before the glue dried. Now, here’s my favorite part – I used antique book pages to make the paper flowers. See tutorial link above.
I put the birdhouse out onto my deck to dry in the sunshine.
While the birdhouse was drying, I created my paper flowers.
I added a small flower to the front. I also used one of my grandma’s buttons to add to the bird perch.
Isn’t this precious? It was fairly easy to do and took about 30 minutes of total time.
I think it turned out great andĀ I hope Jennifer likes this…and knows what a wonderful mother she has š
XO~Vicki
