Hey there…we hope y’all had a great weekend. Our weather has turned a bit rainy and chilly again, but I am dreaming of warm days spent out on the lake. From now until about the end of the summer we spend our spare time out at Lake Oconee. I was inspired by a piece of DIY art that H2o Bungalow did for her beach home – you can see her beautiful work here. I liked it so much that I decided to create something for our lake place!
Here’s what I used:
- 12″x12″ burlap frame
- assorted colors of craft paint
- 3/4″ wooden balls with hole openings
- string
- Letters that spell “Lake:
- a square piece of wood for boat sign
- fencing
- hot glue and gun
I painted all of the wooden pieces and set them out to dry…
My wooden piece for my sign was too large, so I scored it with a razor and cut it in half…
I painted the balls in assorted colors to be floats. I used a chalk pen to create the rustic white line. I love the “Boat Rental” sign too 🙂 I used a hot glue gun to hold everything in place. It was easiest to glue the floats and sign onto the fence before I glued the fence into place.
Now, I can’t wait to get to the lake and hang this on the wall.
You can use this same craft and create something for Summer, a holiday or your family name. This would also be a terrific memento of a special family vacation. Let us know what your inspiration is.
