I don’t know about y’all, but sometimes I just love to pop into a thrift store to get some inspiration or maybe even an amazing deal. Now let’s be honest, I don’t really need a whole lot, but the thrill of finding a great deal is sometimes too hard to pass up. During a recent lunch break and needing to alleviate some stress, I popped into the Goodwill up the street from my office. As I was going through the aisles, I noticed this globe and immediately grabbed it. It was only $5 and was a little dirty, but I knew I had to get it.
There was even a man in the store who was trying to discourage me from buying it. He asked me how much the globe was. Once I told him, he then proceeded to tell me that he saw one cheaper at a store across town. Good try sir, but I knew he just wanted it for himself. Mama didn’t raise no fool haha!(This post contains affiliate links.)
I had some leftover copper foil metallic spray paint from the master bedroom closet makeover and thought that this would be perfect for the globe. The silver was looking a little grimy and had lost its sheen. I thought the copper would bring it back to life.
And I was right! I absolutely love how the globe looks and it fits better with my decor. The shine of the globe definitely returned with just a little bit of paint.
You really never know what you’ll find when you go thrifting and sometimes you can get pretty lucky. There is also nothing quite like the feeling of the thrill of the hunt. Don’t y’all agree? Be sure to come back tomorrow to see more progress on the She Shed…it really is coming along!
XO, Jenn
What a great find!! I would have snatched up that globe as well. It looks terrific with its new coat of paint.
