Decorating with Moss Balls

When springtime rolls around, we love decorating with moss balls. They add instant pops of fresh color to any room. One of the best benefits is that they are practically the easiest thing to decorate with. We truly use them year-round in our homes. Let’s take a look!

Mix it up

Use moss balls of different sizes and textures.

Top it Off

Create a topiary, using THIS tutorial.

Filler’ Up

Fill a farmhouse basket with multiple moss balls.

This creates a beautiful display.

Conversation Piece

Add a single moss ball to an interesting piece. Here, we topped off a miniature champagne bucket. We have also used them in vintage silver sugar bowls.

Inspiration Piece

When we are out and about (or, when we used to be LOL) inspiration is all around us. This vignette was outside of a home decor shop. This is a great way to try and replicate something similar in your own home.

Keep it Moving

This is the same bowl as above, but it also looks beautiful in the dining room. Feel free to move things around your house. It creates an entirely different look.

Adding a single moss ball to this bird bowl created instant interest. It looks a bit like a bird nest. You can get our three, free Spring printables HERE.

Repeat

As you can see, these topiaries are used frequently – and in different room, different seasons.

Several years ago we crafted spring moss covered eggs. They made for very cute place settings at Easter.

Tray Chic

Think of adding moss balls to a tray or wooden dough bowl.

Chalk Painted Bunnies

Our chalk painted bunnies look even more adorable sitting on top of sheet moss and moss balls.

This adorable Easter vignette could not be simpler. An Easter sign, a bunny and a moss ball. Done! Who doesn’t love quick decor?

I find that moss balls can be used in any season but spring is definitely my favorite time to do a vignette with them for my family room coffee table. This year I did a long bread bowl with faux artichokes, moss balls and some lotus pods and on my mantle I have some large moss balls in 2 urns and a faux boxwood topiary and some candles which look good with a forsythia wreath centered above them. Definitely says spring to me.
