Christmas in the Family Room at the Lake never looked so good!
Last week I was sitting in my favorite chair admiring the twinkling lights of our Christmas tree. I was suddenly struck by the fact that it doesn’t really matter the size of the tree…it’s who you share it with. This is our first Christmas in the family room at the lake.
Even though you have been listening to me bemoan the fact that “all of my Christmas decor is in storage” something wonderful has come of it. I have had lots of extra time to enjoy my favorite holiday season. New memories have been made with family and friends. We have had special shopping days, lunch dates, holiday parties and so much more. It’s a wonderful feeling to slow down and enjoy these special moments – I feel truly blessed.
Technically, this is really our sunroom – but it is where family and friends congregate. I absolutely love this space. It is bright and cheerful, especially in the morning.
Blue and white reign supreme for the Christmas decor. Here at the lake, life tends to be more quiet and tranquil. Blue and white just seemed like the perfect choice for decorating.
The “Noel” pillow was a new purchase from Target.
Last year I made the cable knit pillow from thrift store sweaters.
Y’all know how much I love using my vintage cobalt blue bottles. I added a bit of fresh evergreens and sticks from my yard.
Both of my brothers are gifted artisans and woodworkers. Several years ago my brother Gary carved this beautiful Santa for me from a tree stump. Amazing right?
Jenn gifted me the driftwood tree – it is perfectly rustic. I moved the blue wooden canoe from the fireplace mantel to the coffee table.
Again, I used fresh evergreens.
Both of these pillows were new purchases. I think I squealed out loud when I found the blue plaid pillow LOL.
Last week, I shared my DIY Christmas Ornament Tree.
Somehow, this fabulous deer bust made the move to the lake house. Thank goodness because he looks perfect in the sunroom!
Saturday, Jenn and I had a very special day with my sister-in-law Janice and my niece, Rachel. While out shopping for antiques I spotted this “Bring on the Cozy” sign. This phrase sums up how Jenn and I feel about this time of year…I just had to buy it.
Have I told you how much I love this blue chalkboard? Well… I do 🙂
When I spotted this blue and white check wrapping paper, I just had to have it. I knew that it would be perfect as my Christmas gift wrap. I know that it’s not traditional but it works – and looks great under the Christmas tree.
The little canoes were made into gift tags. Other woodsy elements were added – like raffia, mini trees and feathers.
So…what do you think? Is the blue and white Christmasy enough?
Thanks so much for stopping by and visiting Christmas in the Family Room at the Lake. I truly wish that we could share a cup of hot chocolate or a glass of wine under the tree!
Until tomorrow…
Love the blue and white, very crisp and clean, it always has a true elegance to it, just bringing in enough green sets it right off!!!
Wonderful rustic and crafty ideas; and I love blue and white Christmas inspirations.
