Y’all know how much we love to paint furniture, but I have been procrastinating with painting this dresser for our bedroom. To be honest, the reason why I kept putting it off was because I wasn’t sure if I wanted to paint this piece of furniture. It was in fairly good shape, just a few marks here and there, and we got a great deal on it from a friend of a friend, who was cleaning out her basement. I felt guilty for wanting to paint this dresser, since it had been a piece of furniture that had been cared for. But at the end of the day, it just didn’t fit with my aesthetic and I made the decision to just go for it.Ā Plus the aged wood was starting to look a little orange in color.
I, naturally, decided to paint it with Paris Grey chalk paint, my favorite color. I had thought about staining it or distressing it, butĀ I really liked the simplicity of just keeping it grey.
One of the things I love about this dresser is this unique feature it has…
I love the surprise of this hidden desk…
Some of you may be saying, “Why did you paint that gorgeous wood?”, and don’t worry, I asked myself that too! But I just knew I wouldn’t be happy if I kept the natural wood and am so happy with the decision I made. The dresser fits in perfectly in my bedroom and it is such an interchangeable piece that I can use anywhere in my home.
Jenn, fabulous makeover and what an awesome surprise with the desk feature. That is too cool! BTW – I’m loving that fan lady š Hugs, CoCo
Thanks CoCo! I love that fan too š xo, Jenn
The hidden desk is so cool! I can relate with not wanting to paint wood that’s in good shape but I’m glad you did what works for your home and will make you love it. It’s a beautiful piece!
I know, isn’t it Amy? I just knew I would not be happy if I kept it original and I’m glad I decided to paint it. Thanks Amy!

What a cute piece! I love how the desk is hidden. This would be so perfect in our main living area. A place to work and a way to hide it! You girls did an great job giving it a little added style! What a great find!
What a beautiful piece! I LOVE the gray without distressing. As always, your paint job is flawless!
You had me at surprise hidden feature….why can’t I find anything like this? I just love it. I am glad you chose to paint it, so many people are scared to paint if something is in good condition but what is the point if you don’t love it? Beautiful makeover.
