Rope Wrapped Candle Holder – Thrifty Style Team
We have a super easy DIY for you today – a rope wrapped candle holder. Perfect summer decor for your home, porch or patio.
Welcome to this month’s installment of our Thrifty Style Team. This is the place where we get together with our talented and creative blogger friends every month. We each makeover, repurpose or transform something from our homes or thrift stores. Let’s get started!
The unofficial beginning of summer has arrived and we have started changing up our home decor. Just a little bit. A new candle here, a different pillow there and fresh hydrangeas all over the house. Our post for How to Cut Hydrangeas Blooms and Keep Them Fresh might be of help to you.
More than likely we each have clear glass vases, votives and candle holders in our homes. Recently, I culled my collection and donated a lot of them. Isn’t it funny how quickly they accumulate? I kept a few of them in my stash because I knew I wanted to do this project. A rope wrapped candle holder.
Varying sizes of candle holders adds interest when displayed on a table. I chose two tall cylinder vases and two smaller, wide mouth candle holders.
- clear glass vases or candle holders in desired sizes
- hot glue gun
- glue sticks
- embellishment – optional
Starfish and shells are the perfect decor element for a summery feel.
Put it together
- Gather materials
- Heat glue gun
- Add hot glue, starting at the bottom of vase.
- Wrap the rope around the glass cylinder gluing as you go.
- Wrap the rope around the cylinder about one third of the way up from the bottom. Cut and glue the rope to the cylinder to finish.
- Hot glue a summer/beach element to the front of the cylinder.
Be extra cautious when using hot glue. Trust me – after all of the years of craft projects, I barely have fingerprints left. LOL
You can leave your rope wrapped candle holder just like this, without an embellishment.
Being that I wanted a more summertime beach vibe, I added a starfish and shells.
These candle holders took just minutes to make. The best part was that I had everything I needed in my stash.
Candlelight is so pretty, day or night.
The rope adds so much texture to the candle holder.
They look perfect on the front porch too!
A citronella candle would be perfect when using outdoors.
I hope that you are inspired today to create something for your home!
