We can’t believe it’s already week 3 of the One Room Challenge! We have made some great progress in the she shed and everything is coming together. The more work we do, the easier it is to see us relaxing here year round with friends and family. It will also be a great little hideaway to relax and read a book on a cool, sunny day. We are definitely getting a little impatient and wish it was all done…can’t wait! There has been a lot of hard work put into the she shed, but I am happy to report that we haven’t had any breakdowns haha. If something doesn’t quite work like we initially thought it would, we calmly think up a Plan B. So far so good…hopefully it stays this way!
One thing we worked on this last week was staining the built in bar area. Originally we were going to also paint this portion white like the rest of the she shed, but after thinking about it, we decided it would be nice to stain the bar in a contrasting color. We went with weathered gray, which is one of our favorite stains to use.
I did 2 coats of the stain to make sure it was covered and then just one coat of polyurethane. I had to work fast with the stain so that it wouldn’t soak in to much. The bar area is a fairly large space, so I was applying the stain like a mad woman lol. Also, some of our bar accessories arrived from Uncommon Goods and we love them! Here’s a sneak peak of them…we were too excited to leave them in the box and had to unpack them.
This weekend we’ll be doing more projects, like creating artwork for the walls, hanging our light fixture, as well as doing some exterior shed work…the outside needs to look pretty too 🙂 Our rug has arrived from Nuloom and artwork is on its way from Minted. Getting very excited! Be sure to visit Calling it Home to see other bloggers’ One Room Challenge projects…so much talent.
