Hey y’all…I finally feel like I’m back into the swing of life after the holiday break. All of my decor is stowed away in the basement and the sun is shining big and bright for the first time in a long time. This combination gets me energized to get projects done and to change/move things around the house for a fresher look and feel.
I haven’t painted anything in awhile and I was aching to get my hands on my supplies and create something new! I didn’t want to paint anything large, like a piece of furniture…just something small. In the deep recesses of my mind I already knew what I wanted to try and paint.
Now, here’s where I need to interject something very important…Jenn and I are obsessed with Adele! You know Adele, right? Fantastic British singer/songwriter with the voice of an angel!! We love her new album “25” and we each received it as a Christmas gift. We recently tried to score tickets for her upcoming Atlanta concert in October. For just a hot minute we thought it was perfectly justified to pay $800 each for one of the few remaining tickets left. But alas, we came to our senses and played our albums “just one more time”.
The first song on the record is “Hello” – please tell me you’ve heard it. The catchphrase is “Hello…it’s me” and it is wonderful! So, that’s what I wanted to paint. I will take you through the steps on how to create a DIY hand painted sign the easy way for your very own!
1. Gather Materials: Wood, paintbrush, paint, chalk and drop cloth. Paint the wood piece in your choice of color.
2. Print out your quote of choice in an oversized font.
3. Use a piece of chalk
4. Use the chalk on the back side of your print-out and carefully trace all of the letters using a heavy hand.
5. Carefully cut out each word. Lay it on your painted piece of wood and rub the lettering into place.
6. Paint on top of the chalk. Step back and admire your work 🙂
I am really pleased with how it turned out.
It was quick, easy and fun to make.
Here’s a Rustic Lake Sign that we made using another DIY method.
I hope that you are encouraged to try and paint a sign of your very own. You can create one as large or small as you would like. It’s easy…I promise!
And if you see Adele tell her…”Hello” from Vicki and Jenn. we need concert tickets.
