Hey y’all…I’m so excited to share today’s project with you! I am fortunate to have a small sitting room attached to my bedroom. It is my special little place where I can escape from the rest of the house. This is where I sit and meditate, dream, list-make and come up with my best ideas. This area has been updated a few times over the past 14 years, but I decided the sitting room could benefit from a complete makeover.
During one of my dreaming, list-making days I had a vision for how I wanted this little space to look. I wanted this room to be brighter, more colorful and to display some of my favorite decor items. I wanted it to feel like an extension of the rest of the house, but I also wanted it to be very comfortable and a space that felt cozy.
Here’s my vision come to life…
I’ve been having a love affair with blue and green for awhile now. The colors are calm and soothing, but more importantly pair well together. This oversized floral art piece was in the basement. Prior to that it graced our foyer wall.
The chaise got a new slipcover…you know how expensive they are. I was super lucky to find this one at my local Ballard’s Design outlet store. It had been returned and was marked down to $30.00! Definitely a lucky find.
How could I resist buying this adorable Bee pillow?
This sitting room is shaped like a wonky triangle and has so many angles. I’m thrilled with this corner shelving area.
I’ve displayed some of my collection favorites…like these KLM delft houses.
…and this inlaid mosaic box.
I especially love cobalt blue. The apothecary jar on the top shelf is an inherited family piece.
The blue and white ginger jar is the perfect statement piece.
Call me crazy but I prefer vintage family photos over current photos. The black and white photos are so crisp and I appreciate the nostalgia.
Here’s my favorite sitting room vignette…silver, moss, vintage keys and Native American pottery…
Architectural salvage is another favorite. Yes, I’m aware that I have too many favorites LOL!
My cherished collection of vintage books, especially the ones by Laura Ingalls Wilder.
This sweet apothecary bee jar was a gift from a dear friend…
This end table didn’t look like this when we got a hold of it. We gave it a complete makeover with Napoleonic Blue Chalk Paint. You can see what it used to look like HERE.
The new graphic curtains are actually tablecloths from HomeGoods. A fantastic deal at $9.99 each, for all of this fabric! The best part is that they didn’t require any sewing! I simply attached the clip-on rings and they were the perfect length.
This beautiful lady hangs on the opposite wall. She provides me with daily inspiration. And look at her adorable bulldog!
The sitting room is where I’ve been spending a good bit of my time lately. I am recovering from dental surgery and I discovered this is a wonderful space to recuperate!
I hope you enjoy the makeover as much as I do!
Love love love this relaxing space! I swear indigo blue, moss green and crisp white are your signature colors. No one does them like you do, baby, so pretty. Sending you lots of hugs and prayers as you recover from surgery, CoCo
Vicki, this is just really beautiful! The colors are amazing together and I like all the goodies you’ve gathered on the shelves. The artwork is wonderful too! Hope you feel better soon.
I love the color coordination. Good job.
Absolutely beautiful. You have such great taste, Vicki. The entire room looks rich, sophisticated, and relaxing at the same time.
Oh my goodness, I am in love with the blues and greens! It’s so fresh and beautiful, no wonder you are inspired in this room. I hope that you are feeling better every day, my dear, take care!
I just love, love, love how you’ve reimagined this space. I’m a sucker for cobalt blue, as well! Love the personal elements, too. Looks like the perfect place to reflect and renew. Great job, Vic.

What a sweet place to relax and dream.
