We are always looking for inexpensive and creative ways to store and organize things in our homes. Take this basket for example, we knew it would be perfect to store bath towels near the tub.

This basket was free-to-us, as it at one time was filled with delicious edibles in the form of a gift. Although the basket looks creamy white, the willow takes on a decidedly yellow hue.

We opted to give the basket an update using a gray wash finish. This way the basket would blend in with our bathroom decor and it would have an aged finish –  which is our favorite look. You can read how to create your own DIY gray wash HERE.

Now our beautiful basket look great perched by the bathtub. Towels are now just an arms-length away.

The gray wash finish makes the basket look vintage too. Our dreams are filled with beautifully authentic, antique French baskets…but our budgets are filled with creating the look for ourselves.

Never be afraid to create or alter something to make it look exactly the way you want. Whether it is painting a piece of furniture, a picture frame or a lamp. There is always a way to achieve the home decor vision of your dreams.
