Y’all, I have been sooo excited to share this project with you today! My brain has been on Christmas overdrive (for reasons you’ll know about in the next few weeks) and when I got this idea it was hard to contain my giddiness. It’s probably no secret that I love using rustic wood elements. I used them in my wedding, my coffee table is a wooden industrial table, I tend to use wood elements in my past Christmas décor, etc. So when I was thinking about what I could do with wood slices I had in my craft bag, I got what I thought was the most genius idea ever haha! “Why not make a 3 dimensional Christmas tree made out of wood slices?”
I just started layering the slices and adding more or taking some away until I got the shape I wanted and I absolutely love how this looks!
The best part is, I didn’t glue them on top of one another, so I can still use the wood slices in future décor. I used a thick base as my tree trunk and helped to make it sturdier. I also loved incorporating the moss, which definitely enhances its rustic feel. I just used sheet moss on the bottom and then added reindeer moss (how appropriate?) to give it more depth.
I also added these great reindeer I got at the dollar store. I couldn’t help, but add a little sparkle…
I also love this wooden box that I have been borrowing from mom for about a year now…shh, don’t tell her!
This is the plaid ribbon I showed you last week that I got for $1 from Target and added just a little pop of color. I also loved using the backdrop for the wreath on this window I painted with chalkboard paint years ago.
This wood slice Christmas tree craft is honestly one of my favorite Christmas projects that I’ve ever done and I hope you like it too!
This is total genius! Love love love! OMG those little bits of moss you left on the trees…I’m crazy for it! Pinning and will be sharing later today. Hugs, CoCo

Hi Emily – Thank you! That means so much to us!
I LOVE these so much!! You have been featured today over at our Inspired by you — Friday Features!!
Hi Fontini~ We are so excited THANK YOU!
Love this!!! Where do you get your wood slices?
Hi Amanda – thanks so much! The wood slices are from a variety of places. Some are from the Christmas tree lot a couple of years ago. Surprisingly they sliced up several stumps when we asked. Others are leftover from my wedding decor and were purchased at Michael’s back before the prices on these went up. Good luck!
Good Evening Jenn!! I wanted to stop by and let you know that your post has been chosen as a Feature for the Welcome Home Wednesdays Link Party!! Stop by tomorrow morning and see your post linked up and don’t forget to grab your “Featured Button”. ~Lisa~
Such a good idea – definitely will be heading to pin this! You know, lots of people save their wood stumps from Christmas trees, I know you mentioned using the ones you had in your craft stash but imagine doing this after 20 years of cutting Christmas stumps! It might not be so 3 dimensional and cone / tree shaped but it would be some fun memories.
Thanks for sharing @ Welcome Home Wednesday last week!
I love this idea! And I also love that moss covered wreath. Very cute ideas!
