Typically, the mantel is the first thing I decorate for Christmas. It is the centerpiece of the room and it sets the tone for the rest of the house. As I told y’all yesterday in my post about budget Christmas decorations, the mantel was also designed on a budget. Can I just say that this rustic Christmas mantel is now my favorite? Here’s how it all came together…

The statement piece is this vintage tobacco stick star. Can you believe I bought it from a guy at a roadside stand for $15.00?! I didn’t hesitte to purchase one each for Jenn and I.

I made another pillow cover with a fave vintage postcard Santa scene. Can I let you in on a little secret? I added this to the backside of this pillow that I made in the Fall.

Plaid and I are having a moment – this pretty blue and mint green throw is from the Target dollar spot.

This oversized green ornament is from the dollar store.

Who could resist this blue glitter deer? When I spotted him at a local gift shop he had a broken antler. The sales clerk let me purchase him for just $5.00. A dot of hot glue later, he looked good as new.

These green ornaments were another dollar store purchase. They came in a tube with 10 ornaments. I added them onto the same blue and white gingham ribbon as yesterday’s ornaments. They look great draped from the mantel.

The cable knit stockings were hung with care 🙂

Can yo9u believe that these trees were just .50 cents each? I purchased them this Summer from Hobby Lobby’s clearance corner. A coat of white paint later they were ready for their Christmas debut.

Luckily this boxwood wreath made it to our house after the move. I had previously displayed it in the old house in the dining room for Spring. Otherwise, it would have been in storage too!

These houses were also Hobby Lobby clearance purchases and they received the same paint tratment. Cypress greenery was placed across the mantel – it looks so bright and fresh.

As I stated earlier – I am really in love with this mantel! I hope that you are too

I agree, it’s my favorite! Did you make the wood slat green tree (behind the deer)? It reminds me of the ornament tree at Jenn’s house. Just lovely!

  5. Really do love this color combination of green, navy and white. So crisp and classic. Such a nice twist for Christmas decor. Couldn’t help but notice your copy of “On The Banks of Plum Creek” on the mantel. One of my favorite childhood authors!
