Pizza Wonton Cups – delicious and easy to make!

Our family loves delicious snacks, munchies and appetizers. A few months ago I shared my recipe for Buffalo Chicken Wonton Cups. They have been a BIG hit every time I make them! I decided to create another version with one of our favorite foods. This is my recipe for pizza wonton cups – delicious and easy to make.

Yield: 6

Pizza Wonton Cups - Delicious and Easy to Make - fresh basil

This recipe is very versatile. Add your favorite pizza ingredients or toppings to suit your own taste. Make as many, or a few as you like. For the purpose of this recipe - it is for 6 pizza wonton cups. You can make as few as one, or fill an entire muffin pan!

Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Total Time 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 12 wonton wrappers
  • jar of pizza sauce
  • 1 cup finely shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 6 pepperoni slices
  • Italian seasoning

Instructions

    1. Pre-heat oven to 375° and spray a 6-cup muffin tin with nonstick cooking spray.
    2. Layer two wonton wrappers per cup, overlapping the second wonton square and cover the whole muffin cup.
    3. Add 1-2 TBS pizza sauce to each cup, spooning into the bottom of each wonton cup.
    4. Top each cup with a pepperoni slice and shredded mozzarella (or your favorite toppings) Sprinkle with Italian seasoning. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the sauce is hot and the cheese is melted.
    5. Add/change any toppings to your taste.
    6. Let the cups cool slightly - as they sauce and cheese are very hot. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • wonton wrappers – found in the produce section of the grocery store
  • pizza sauce
  • pepperoni (or your favorite pizza toppings)
  • mozzarella cheese
  • Italian seasoning
  • cooking spray

How many do you want?

It’s not necessary to fill the entire muffin tin. Simply decide how many you want to make. If I’m making a snack for Honey Bee and I to share, I make about six of these.

Put it all together

Place two wonton wrappers in each muffin tin. Add 1-2 tablespoons of pizza sauce to each cup. I like a lot of sauce on my pizza, so I added 2 tablespoons to these pizza cups.

Our family loves pepperoni pizza. I placed one slice of pepperoni on top of the sauce in each cup.

Next, shredded mozzarella cheese was put on top of each wonton cup. Fancy, or finely shredded mozzarella is best. Italian seasoning was sprinkled on top of the mozzarella. You could also add some oregano, red pepper flakes or other favorite seasonings.

Fresh is Best

After these wonton cups are baked, sprinkle fresh basil on top of each cup. This adds a fresh and delicious flavor. Remember – these are just like a slice of pizza. They are very hot – so you want to avoid burning the roof of your mouth.

Using two wonton cups makes for a crispy and crunchy base for the pizza ingredients.

This recipe is very versatile. You can definitely change/add ingredients that are your favorites.

Girls this looks delicious, just want to confirm do you bake the cups first then do the toppings or put it all together then bake. It shows doing it 2 different ways not sure which works best. Anxious to try💜Chris

    1. Hey Chris – thank you so much for catching that. This is what happens when we hit “publish” too quickly. 😜 The cups were not pre-baked. For the purposes of this recipe, I tried it both ways with the same results. Therefore, no need for pre-baking. I have updated the recipe card in the post. We hope you like these as much as we do!

      All the best~
