Well…this is too embarrassing to write write about – let alone actually show you photographs. I have been lacking some inspiration of late. Last week I showed you my fireplace mantel spruce up. After you see the following photos I’m sure you are wondering – “Why in the world didn’t she start here”. Truth be told, I couldn’t decide where to start or what I wanted to do.
Jennifer and I have always told you we would be real and honest with you…here goes. This is what my kitchen desk area typically looks like on any given day.
I know…not super horrible, but bad enough. When company comes over, that center drawer opens up and all of the junk slides in their very easily…too easily. But, then the crap makes its way back out into the light of day – like it always does.
How do you like my handy dandy jewelry holder. It’s really an incense holder that I brought home from our wonderful trip to South Korea – you know, for my Zen moments of cleanliness.
And all of the other stuff that gets easily laid down on this desk top. My mail, eyeglass case…
Barnes and Noble purchase, brown bag full of wine corks, items leftover from photo shoots…just stuff.
Empty spaces after Christmas was put away.
Just messy and not pleasant to look at. Yes, those are my Honey Bee’s fuzzy slippers 🙂
I love my ceramic fish plate that hangs above the desk area, although he looks a little lonely.
So, I finally decided to do something about this space. I gathered vintage aqua and turquoise glass, some wooden pieces and changed out most of what was previously in this space.I also kept my favorite items.
I love my vintage mason jars. the large one in front is from 1858!
I also love this small, crazed pitcher.
This large inkwell is from 1838!!
I made this memo board from an old frame and added batting and burlap.
This old jug is special to me as well. My brothers are Glenn and Gary – each spelled differently but I think it is wonderful.
Lots of wine corks – and they make me happy.
I brought this chair in from the garage. It was a project I completed several months ago. I painted the chair and recovered the cushion. So glad it now has a place in my home.
Moss is my new happy decor item 🙂
I must have been channeling “Spring” when I was gathering these items. I love the pop of color and the addition of my cherished collections. Are you as ready for Spring as I am?
