Homemade chili recipe
In the fall and winter, one of my favorite foods is homemade chili. It’s easy to make, fills you up, and tastes great. And what’s even better is that it’s easy to freeze, which makes for a quick homemade meal during the holidays when everyone’s schedules are so crazy!
Here are the ingredients you’ll need…
Ingredients
- 1 lb. of lean ground beef
- 1 lg can of diced tomatoes (only use 3/4 of the can)
- 6 oz. tomato paste
- 14.5 oz chili beans
- 14.5 oz kidney beans, drained & rinsed
- 1 medium onion
- 1/2 green pepper
- 2 cans of water (use tomato paste can)
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
First you will saute the beef until browned. Then you will add the onions, green pepper, and garlic and let it saute.
You will then add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and water and stir.
Next, add all of the seasonings, along with the chili beans and kidney beans.
Let simmer for at least 30 minutes.
Then it is ready to serve...you can garnish it will cheddar cheese or sour cream.
6 points plus (without cheese & sour cream)
https://2beesinapod.com/homemade-chili/First you will brown the meat…while this is happening you can chop the onion and green pepper.
Once the meat is browned, you will add the onion, green pepper, and garlic into the pot and let it saute.
You will then add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and water, followed by the seasonings.
And then the beans…
I would let everything simmer for at least 30 minutes so the flavors can really build.
After this it is dinner time! I like to eat it with cheddar cheese & corn bread 🙂
Now we can freeze the remaining chili and use it once the hustle and bustle of the holidays is upon us!
