Here’s a popular rewind post from last January…and yes, I do make my own handmadeValentine cards 🙂
Today, I played…and I felt like I was right back in second grade. The first time I remember making Valentines, and the all important construction paper “mailbox” that hung off the front of my school desk, I was in Mrs. Bacon’s class. Yes, that was her real name 🙂 Do you remember making Valentines when you were in school?
If I close my eyes I can actuallly recall the smell of paste and remember my excitement of the thought of Valentines. I didn’t even know what a Valentine was but I knew that I was going to make cards for everyone in my class. I was astonished when my mailbox was stuffed with lovely cards from everyone in my class. Such a fun and innocent time.
Today, I got to bring back a bit of that joy into my life. I dug into my craft bins and pulled together an assortment of items that I thought were Valentine friendly.
I have some kraft paper stock note cards and envelopes, so I decided to use these as my base. I began pulling things together and placing them on the cards.
I only applied ink to “my Valentine”.
I glued down the cutout hearts…
Placed in the envelope and ready for a lucky recipient 🙂
Bakers twine for the envelope.
I added special messages to the envelopes…

I think handmade cards are cute and a little extra special for a loved one. Plus, with the cost of greeting cards SO high, you can make your own cards for a fraction of the cost. Thanks for letting me share my play-day with you!
These Valentines are so cute! I can totally remember getting Valentine cards in school and you’re right it was such a fun day. Just so you know it blows my mind you just whipped these materials out of your craft bins. I will still in the craft store trying to get a theme together. You inspire me!
Hey CoCo – I admittedly have a big craft stockpile. I’m always on the hunt for after-holiday markdowns in the crafts department. I have found great items for as low as one penny!
These are so cute! I love how you tied in the bee stamp! Handmade cards are always better to receive than store bought. 🙂
Angie – you know we had to tie the Bee in somewhere! I love making cards for all occasions.
Vicki, those handmade Valentines are so beautiful and thoughtful. You know I’ve never made my own cards, well besides back in grade school. Those were the days. Your creativity knows no limits and this is the greatest idea as they are so personal and meaningful. xo Lisa
Lisa – I love card making. I can create the exact sentiment that I want and i love being creative with style and color.
These are adorable! That little bee stamp is perfect 🙂 Craft playtime is the best. Your special ones will really love these ~ as they should on Valentine’s Day! Bwg ~~~
Thank you Bobbi- You know we love our Bees 🙂 Crafting is definitely a soothing time for me – especially card making 🙂
Super cute, love love the bee stamp!
So cute!! That bee stamp was made for you!
So special! I would feel honored to receive a card that looks so pretty and has so much love invested in it. Handmade cards carry so much of a personal touch and mean more than a random card picked up at the store.
