Happy Monday! I hope that you had a fabulous weekend. We were fortunate to be invited to a Friendsgiving celebration by our sweet friend Jane. She outdid herself by creating a fabulous gourmet meal and served 30 of us in her beautiful home. Definitely an event to remember. On the homefront, cold air finally arrived in my neck of the woods and I couldn’t be happier. I know, I know…people think I’m crazy (especially Honey Bee) because I truly love when the temps dip. For me it signifies the change of the seasons and I get totally energized. This weekend I did a lot of Thanksgiving dinner prep and I began hauling in some Christmas decor. My home definitely looks like it has a split personality right now. The first thing I did was create this easy DIY Christmas wreath with lantern.
Since I moved this year ALL of my Christmas decor is in storage…whomp whomp. And, it’s not that it is just in storage – the Christmas decor was the first thing crammed into the storage unit. There is no easy access to retrieve my beloved holiday magic. So…I have had to get very creative for this holiday.
Jenn felt sorry for me, so she gave me a wreath from her stash (thanks Jenn). The ribbon, lantern and most of the ornaments are from a dollar store.
I don’t want to spend a lot of money for my new Christmas decor.
How cute is this lantern? This was a dollar well spent!
This floral wire was in my craft stash.
I like to cluster ornaments for better visual impact. Think of it as a bigger bang for your buck. For the two large ornaments I threaded the floral wire between the hanging loops and twisted the wire tight.
For the smaller ornaments I clustered three together.
I found it easier to work with the wreath hanging on the door. I kept adding the clusters all the way around the wreath.
In other news…I taught myself how to make a video this weekend. Fancy, right? Let me know what you think 🙂
Using the floral wire I made a bow and hung the lantern.
I love how festive it is and it is a beautiful greeting to family and friends.
The dollar store even had these battery operated mini candles.
The darker the evening gets, the more this little light glows.
Because of Jenn’s generosity, this DIY Christ wreath project only cost me about $5.00. Also, it only took about 10 minutes to make!
Now the front door is decorated and I am working on other creative Christmas things for the house. Stay tuned!
I love it.
Love the wreath and am so impressed by your videography skills!
This is really pretty ladies! I love how it looks just as pretty at night as it does during the day. The lantern and candle make it extra special! Hugs, CoCo
Gorgeous wreath! I love the red colors! Do you know where Jenn purchased the wreath? I want to get one.
